Sevilla FC 2-1 Rayo Vallecano de Madrid | Primera Division

Honestly I can’t see it. Did he stamp on him? I think its a rough tackle, but red? I dont think thats fair imo. But im used to things happening against us.

I only care about the 3 points here. This team is still clearly incomplete, but i have confidence in the new players brought in, especially Iglesias. Unfortunate mistake by Sangante early on, but he seems to be an overall solid defender. We’ll see the next time out alongside Castrin away to Athletic.

It was a pretty forgettable 1st half, but we brought the energy in the 2nd. Robbie Ure’s presence helped us move forward quicker, and Peque did a good job directing play. We still lacked end product, but that’s where i’m hoping to see improvement from Oso & Sierra. Wasn’t their best day, but there are positive signs there.

Fortune favours the brave, so getting the win on 2 penalty decisions wasn’t totally underserved. If anything, a reminder of how La Liga games can go. Also, our big #9 didn’t take any of pens. What’s up with that?

Really late and kind of raised the leg up on the follow through. I think Salas knew it at the time too and didn’t protest.

First time Sevilla has won the first match of the season since 2021.

Wow wasn’t able to watch but great to hear we somehow pulled off three points. I think recent seasons have made abundantly clear how important early points are for avoiding excessive pressure and dysfunction in a season where anything between relegation and conference league could (again) be in play. Most of us would probably happily accept and relatively uneventful middle of the pack season of greater stability and establishing financial health and development of some canteras. Anyway, three big ones no matter how we managed to snag em.

Wasn’t able to watch it either. From what I’m reading team was shit in the first half before finding a foothold in the second half. Won’t read too much into Sangante’s performance, Kounde’s debut was pretty terrible too.

Only thing I want to know is were the two penalties award to Sevilla warranted? As mentioned the last time two penalties were awarded was 20 years ago. Rayo would feel hard done by but 3 points is 3 points and Sevilla will play away to them anyway.

In my opinion:

No penalty on Isaac. Clear as day penalty on Sierra (our first one). Would have been furious if the penalty on Ure (our second one) had been against us - maybe there was some contact which is why VAR didn’t intervene, but would probably have thought it was fair if they did.

It seems to be the only major decision the ref got wrong and Rayo should probably feel robbed. The conspiracy that the ref’s are out to get us did definitely not gain any fuel today.

I thought Robbie had a great 45 mins too! The defenders were worried about him all half. His pace, skill and control was impressive. He was close to scoring too.

I liked what I saw better in 2nd half for all the players. The manager made the right changes and we looked much more threatening 2nd half. Sangante calmed down and improved 2nd half too.

I’m praying for a much better season with less heart attacks. I’m going to Sevilla in May for week holiday. I’m hoping it to see them play at home or watch in Sevilla bars if away. Let’s hope we in a much better place by then.

Vamos mi Sevilla!

From what I saw Peque was pretty impactful too. He was in really good form in the preseason, I hope that it continues.

Don’t worry, it’s just the first game. Once they’ve used this game to quell the rumors there’s another 37 games for them to put us to the sword in ways we can’t even imagine.

Did he play as second striker or attacking midfield, if Vargas is really sold he’s the only one left who can create chances.
