It’s with a heavy heart that I share some incredibly sad news, especially after the joy of yesterday. I just learned from Tim’s partner, Maria, that he passed away on May 3rd.
For as long as I can remember, even back to the old WordPress blog days, @TimSpence2 has been such a significant part of the Monchi’s Men family. He was unfailingly kind to everyone.
This morning, I reached out to Tim, as I hadn’t heard from him in a few weeks, eager to share the news about the book promotion after our win. Just moments ago, Maria replied with this heartbreaking news.
I don’t have any further details at this time, but please keep Maria and Tim’s family in your thoughts, and I will share any additional information as it becomes available.
Here’s a link to an old podcast episode featuring Tim:
I had the pleasure of meeting Tim, a few years back in Sevilla, a very charming guy, we had a couple of beers outside the RSP. We discussed Sevilla all afternoon. I am truly devastated to hear this, I will really miss his knowledge insightful comments, honestly gutted to hear this. RIP to a lovely guy Tim..
Very sad news to hear that Tim has passed away. I met him recently when he gave me a copy of his book. I will cherish it.
He was a lovely guy, we didn’t realise before we met that we grew up very close to each other and spent an afternoon remembering the old days back home.
Rip Tim.
Rest in heaven Tim. A real pity… something that will probably bug me for life that I couldn’t meet him in person. We had plans of a MM gathering in Sevilla and Tim was all for that.
I can’t think of MM without thinking of Tim.
This is life… harsh and cold.
My sincere condolences to Maria. May you all be strong in these tough times.
DEP Tim. Thoughts are with his family. I remember hearing him on the podcast and reading his thoughts on the board. He leaves a legacy through his book, it speaks of his knowledge and passion for the club and the city.
What?!? This is so sad. He’s obviously a loss for this community and I can’t imagine the loss being felt by his family. Thank you for sharing with us Chris. Truly devastating. May we all be as kind, thoughtful, and positive as Tim has always been here and with all of us.
Hey @ChrisLail maybe we could all buy a copy of Tim’s book (those that can and haven’t already) as an alternative to a gofundme?
My only concern is that Tim required some involvement in the printing process (if it’s print on demand). Maybe you could ask Tim’s partner if she knows anything about it? I wouldn’t want her to get bombarded with requests for books on top of everything else she must be going through.
Really sad news to hear about Tim’s Passing. A highly respected member of this group and someone who’s opinion on Sevilla I held extremely valuable Hope everyone’s holding up ok
Funny how you can actually feel a real loss of someone you’ve never actually met but only seen as a tiny picture on a forum. Seemed a great guy with his head in the right place and he will surely be missed here.
