Totally false. No one will criticize anyone if they play well. If this kind of performance (1st half so far) is not repeated at least in 15 games within a season, it is a sporadic spark. We’ve had 2-3 sparks like this last season and around 2 this season (including this one), but never built something on them.
The only way Lope can really silence the critics is keep playing like this most of the time (even if we don’t win anything) or keep playing like shit but win us trophies. Any coach of Lope’s level (which there are plenty) can do in-between with this kind of squad, even with the injuries.

Honestly, with how we played last two games. If we went with a shit attitude again, like lately, I would have given it to Betís. But the Derby lit a fire. Just what we needed.

So if you carefully followed the discussion on these sparks, everyone including the ‘Lope critics’ were praising Lope and the team for those performances, and we were all happy, fully optimistic that things would change for the better… only to get disappointed afterwards.

I’m not getting into an argument. Enjoying our 2-0 lead and performance too much.
Agree that one game doesn’t necessarily make a season and we need to consistently play like this, which we don’t.
Just making the point that Lope is so far delivering in a big game, which a few predicted we would lose! He deserves credit for that.

Ah ok… I’m the biggest Lope critic here and I’m pretty sure I didn’t say anything like that. Not sure who you are referring to, maybe next time when you state something like that tag the person who said it.

2-0 still a deserved but misleading score. If we think we are there, we are not. If they bring Gudelj and Augustinsson, act submissive and and if they get a goal somehow, things could go wrong still.

Lopé might have a wee dilemma with subs on the second half as two players are on yellow cards & DC, Navas & YEN aren’t fully match fit. Having already made 1 substitution, it’ll be interesting to see how he handles the situation

In fact, I don’t even remember someone saying that we will lose the derby vs. Betiss today. Can you please quote the comment here for the sake of transparency?
This first half performance was a breath of fresh air. It’s a shame why we have n’t played like this more often. As we can all see they are capable of it but we need it more consistently.
I thought navas and acuna had great games. Navas just come back but boy he’s up for the fight still. The guy is a legend and has incredible longevity. Acuna knows what a derby means and be very effective in attack and defence.
Tecatito definitely man of the match. Incredible work rate and incredible skill and pace to make things happen. He’s a joy to watch and looking forward to seeing more.
The rest of the players were solid. Thought Carlos and Fernando did well at centre. The central midfield been solid as well with not many mistakes.
It’s a shame about the papu injury as everything else very positive. Let’s hope we can stay strong in 2nd half and get a crucial 3 points. Vamos!

What a first half! A shame we can’t play like that in other games, but I def appreciate the response from our players after the last time they met.
Loving the Jesus & Jesus connection on the right, w/ Tecatito giving Moreno the works.
Fairly decent refereeing by Cerro Grande given the circumstances, cause there could have been red cards on both sides. He at least wants to keep the game as competitive as possible knowing it’s a derby. Questionable call on the early pen shout, but we got one in the end. Just know, refs in Spain become incredibly strict in the 2nd half of matches so watch this space.
This is Bet!s’ match of the season. They will give everything they have after the break. Still far from over. But WE are Sevilla. They not on our level!

I’m not going to tag the person/s. One or two did fear a heavy defeat and were lavishing praise on :poop:.
We outplayed them in that first half and fully deserve our lead. We could have been more than 2 goals up. :poop: did nothing all half.
No it’s not over yet and we can’t rest on our laurels. You’d expect a response from them so we need to push on and get a 3rd now.
