MD22: SevillaFC at Rayo Vallecano

Rayo looking the more likely winners here now. I’m starting to settle for the point.

As well as we did in the first half, we are equally as bad this half. Terrible substitution patterns imo. I can only imagine that YEN picked up a knock Thursday.

That was tight!

Why are we still playing?

All in all can’t complain about 1 point can we…?

A draw a fair result in the end. As good as the first half was, the second half was poor.

Rayo a good side though and a difficult place to go so not a bad point.

They always say you won’t go far wrong drawing away and winning at home.

The guys tried and fought out there. Problem is Rayo actually thought this was MMA instead of football.

We didn’t do enough with the ball, and cheaply gave it away plenty times in the 2nd half. Our players gassed themselves making pointless runs cause we either lost the ball or went for desperate long balls. There’s still improvements being made, so i’m not too salty over 2 points dropped. Defence was always gonna be an issue today, and we switched off at the wrong moment.

Time to finish the job in Eindhoven. We go again! Vamos mi Sevilla!

Disgusting second half performance, reminiscing of Lope-ball.

We could’ve beaten Rayo with more courageous tactics. Bringing on Navas for Mir and playing without a striker is the opposite of that… Sampaoli showed signs of fear and weakness there, played for the draw and didn’t want to seal off the win. YEN was the logical sub to make and it showed later on.

On to PSV now… but we won’t go through if coward tactics are deployed vs. them.

Is anyone watching on ESPN+? This translator in the post-match interviews is atrocious lol

Good point for Sevilla. But we should have put every one up including Bono for the last free-kick at 94 minutes, the Rayo penalty area was vacant, probably because Sampi was upstairs in the box.

That was a good 1 point.

It was the right move tbf. Y’all didn’t like Rafa’s play to begin with. So placing a more active Ocampos up front should’ve worked for the better.

I have issues with Oliver not popping up where he needs to be. But he’s doing the bare minimum, where some others aren’t, so i’ll cut him some slack here. We are thin right now anyway.

That’s for sure, we need to go for it a bit more.

He’s a combination of Mbia, N’Zonzi, Keita and Kondogbia in one. All over the pitch… the most fouled player. I was often worried that he’d get injured from some of those nasty tackles.

Pape did the job of 2 players today. One of these days he might eff around and score an AFCON 30-yard special! :rocket:

Glad to get the point at the end. Rayo played a dirty game at times with the number of fouls. Well done to Acuna and Oliver for not losing their cool, their legs must be covered in lumps and bruises after that.

I said the same thing to the missus, he’s a Kondogbia/Keita mix and Monchi has scored there.

To be fair, I thought Bryan was poor today.

We played well in patches and were better first half. Rayo though bossed the 2nd half so overall happy we got a point. Players were a bit tired after the effort from Thursday night. We go again. Vamos mi Sevilla!
