MD1 - Osasuna vs Sevilla FC [22/23]

So who is gonna eat what if that happens?

In case it wasn’t obvious, tomorrow could have been a much, much worse start to the season

Yikes, Cristiano. Yikes Ten Hag

Regarding the Penalty

The technical committee of refereeing are confused and their chief, Luis Cantalejo is angry that the new guidlines got torpedoed in the first game.
Del Cerro Grande might get the fridge treatment, in such cases the committee removes the referee for a month or two.

Ex Referee Iturralde was incensed with the decision saying no foul, no contact, he dived.

President Castro said ‘There are no images that show a penalty, lamentable’.

The referee situated on VAR, CĂ©sar Soto Grado, reported to be ‘perplexed’ which leaves me wondering why he didn’t use his little microphone thingy and say to Cerro Grande ‘Hey, take a look at the images, you cretin’

We played crap anyhow, we need more than one goal and a shot against the post.

Good summary of the news of the day, @TimSpence2 . Helpful for the folks who aren’t simmering in Sevilla news down by the Guadalquivir or don’t speak Spanish.
One thing I noticed this morning: even before that match, Del Cerro Grande was the ref who called the most penalties against Sevilla, now he has called 4. Not sure across how many matches he whistled that total of 4 penalties, but regardless I’m annoyed that he refused to even look at it. My suspicion is that refs are also getting pressured on the number of minutes spent on VAR, so he felt like “I saw it with my eyes, I don’t need to see it again and slow down the match.”

Of course it’s true that we didn’t play a great match. But that was egregiously bad on a ball that was headed AWAY from the goal.
