I’m not sure about the locker room situation. Difficult to get a feel for it.
But I want Lope to talk from the point of view with the ambition that we have. And not this weak sissy shit. Imagine saying every week, about every team. That they are strong complex and demanding. Every game he says this. We are not playing Inter and Man Utd weekly. Every fcking game, what kind of mentality is that. A mentality that even all our players start believing Granada and Elche will give us big trouble. And actually show fear in the game. And looks like a squad full of doubt, instead of confidence and ready to ball and overtake the opponent. Come on, Lope…
If there’s one thing where to start, it’s attitude. And we don’t have the right one. And neither are our players aligned in the same direction. Only respectful performance, Fernando and Montiel.
Acuña needs to go and lie down in a dark room for a couple of weeks, his head is not right.
We looked a little better after the HT changes, but the attack was still cross, cross, cross with no Sevilla player able to get on the end of one. I’m hoping that Yen is fit after the int’ break otherwise we are looking toothless.
Anyone else fear that Lamela is the new Andre Silva?
I did notice the verbals. Acuña also had a real spat with Munir & Oscar had a go at Rafa Mir.
Ocampos did his usual headless chicken act, only Fernando (the quiet man) as usual had a steadying influence on the team.
I said last season that D Carlos was more of a liability than an asset and so far this season he’s proving I was right.
I don’t fear for Lamela, he just delivered more rapidly than we expected. And to the point where we put more pressure on him, since it wasn’t gonna come from others. The typical let’s put in Lamela now, to bring some spice. Right, but neither is Erik the one man army to always save the team burning in flames.
The earlier we get rid of Ocampos the better. That Danjuma guy that @Enrico mentioned seems to be doing exactly what Ocampos did 2 seasons ago. He has stagnated ever since and is totally out of form especially this season. It seems that the 2019-20 season was his peak and can’t get any better than that, only worse. It is what it is and he has to go, unless he seriously steps it up (magically) throughout the season.
Looking at the post-match comments from the players and coach as seen on Orgullo:
Lope: “We didn’t deserve to lose this match”… really genius?
Kounde: “Sometimes things do not go in your favor and tonight was that night”… this could be copy pasted for almost every match, as rarely things go in our favor with that kind of approach.
Lamela: “All the other teams dropped points and it was our turn”… WHAT THE FUCK?
I’m more worried of the defeatist attitude/mentality more than anything right now.
Has to be out of the Lope book of excuses. Same way he defended the Wolfsburg draw. Turns out those one liners are contagious. And annoying and useless. Really gets under my skin quite bad.
Exactly. Like everyone else in the team, Erik did not have a good first half when the balance and set up were so wrong, although he still put in his usual fully committed effort and pressed the opposition consistently.
Ridiculous tactics and set up from Lope here with three slow conservative midfielders, as many said already. If we can’t see a team with Oscar, Papu, Lamela starting against the bottom three team like Granada, when can we see it?
Need a better striker asap. Mir and En-Nesyri are not enough to really push for La Liga title and progress far enough in CL, imo.
I don’t think we should read too much into the one liners that players give after a loss. They’re down emotionally and physically drained and then get a mic stuck in their face. Lope’s nonchalance is worrisome, but the canned responses from the players is natural imo.
