Clinching a CL spot early was an aspect enjoyed due to our schedule ending with tough matches against La Real & Los Che. Valencia have made a habit of getting a result against Sevilla, even though they haven’t matched-up well against us recently. Our last victory came in the 16/17 season, with a 2-1 win, which had a certain Mr. El Haddadi score for the visitors within 3 minutes of coming on as a sub.
Our previous outing at Anoeta looked a bit tame. Lopetegui tried a traditional 4-2-3-1, putting 3 creative midfielders behind En-Nesyri, who was the only player with pace among our attackers. Lope has chosen a similar cast in midfield, as Banega is missing through suspension, and Fernando is out injured (bruised knee).
Despite having issues both on & off the field, Valencia have always made it a difficult game due to the quality in their squad. It will be a peculiar match for Dani Parejo, who has been heavily linked to Sevilla this week because of an impending clearout.
All’s well that ends well, and it would be great to cap off this season with a win. With 3rd place still in reach, Lopetegui’s squad still have a reason to play their best, in addition to the resumption of the Europa League. Will we finally do one over our rivals?
Vamos Sevilla! It would be nice to end season in style. A win would see us hit the 70 points milestone and keep our unbeaten run going. It would be the perfect way to enter the europa league knockout tournament. The pressure is off so hopefully we play well and get the win!
The club are in the CL, which was the main objective at the start of the season. They could afford to take this game lightly and enjoy a pressure-free game.
However, we’re overdue a victory over Valencia and ever since the 4-0 drubbing at the Mestella I really want a W, the team has come close on two occasions only to fall short due to last gasp equalizers and bad luck. That and the poor morale in the Valencia camp means Sevilla should really win this and banish some demons. End the season on a high then focus on the game vs Roma.
Pretty well under control honestly, doesn’t look like Valencia believe at all tho. They are happily sitting back. We move around alright tho, keeping unforced possession loss limited. Our long distance passing has been pretty spot on as well. Diego Carlos, Gudelj and Jordan changing sides or sending deep beautiful. Our actual danger has been a crazy try from Ocampos, with only a Ocampos percentage of success and a decent strike from Torres.
Carlos Fernamdez putting another one in for Granada for fuck sake. Nothing against them. Just impressive. I would trade luuk and en nesyri, If he wasn’t already ours…
Unfortunately in both games we drew 1-1 and 2-2 but away goals don’t count. If aggregate level it goes to goal difference. Therefore they 3rd but still a great effort by us!
