Nunca se rinde?

We give it a great go tonight. Just not meant to be. We had a great run and it’s been an amazing season regardless

It was fun while it lasted, but you can’t win a league title in Spain with a crappy midfield. Simply cannot… never ever.

We need massive improvement in the squad to dream for the title again… the big 3 will not leave so many points in the table in the coming seasons, they have learned the lesson.

Still very proud of the team. We got 4th comfortably. To even be anywhere near the big 3 is an incredible achievement. It’s been an amazing ride. Lots to look forward to next season and rest of this one.

We at least now know what it really takes to win the title, above average players in every position and a top midfield - no compromise on this. Monchi has to take notes if he wants to take this club to the next step, otherwise it is rinse and repeat with 4th being the only reachable objective (a.k.a. Arsenal with Wenger).

Well, it was a good run I guess. We can appreciate the season we’ve had, regardless of this, it still was a good run, and there still is 4 games remaining, maybe a miracle can happen, maybe we can at least set a new record and get more than 76 points

Not that much different than our other victories we snatched. Only the 3 more or less chances we had we couldn’t convert and were caught by Simon who did well.

Well boys, it was exciting whiles it lasted. The thrill and the hope of actually winning something was really awesome, but unfortunately it just wasn’t to be. The referees have been really awful this season but at the end of the day what really ended our season was the inability to convert high possession into goals

Why on earth Fernando ran away from Ä°. Williams when he should have closed him down instead?
Being a make-shift DC isn’t for him, I guess …

I still think we can beat 76 points. That’s a target that’s still achievable and would be awesome.

Exactly! If he had pressed the man running with the ball Williams would’ve been offsides

He had two players. If he went to Inaki Williams the bloke with the ball would have been through on goal. :flushed:

Maybe the gamble of taking Carlos off wasn’t worth it. Kounde should have been back covering anyway, not Fernando. Can’t expect him to cover Williams with his pace.

True, but at the same time, a draw is a loss, and a loss is a loss, at this point. We won’t lose the title by one 1 point. I can tell you that.

  • Navas aiming for the far post everytime is just too predictable.

  • Papu hasn’t been up to the expectations from him. There hasn’t been a win so far that we can attribute to him.

  • The team falling prey to fast counter attacks hasn’t been solved.

  • Oscar and Oliver takes to the stage too late at the game, a mistake from Lope.

  • Too much hustle and scramble for a goal. We should be more direct.

Of course the recent win streak was just a facade covering the problems that were never really solved - problems which showed against big teams this season, and especially against Dortmund in both legs. The title hopes were only possible because the big 3 decided to mess up the most this season out of all others, and we tried to sneak in somehow when there was no pressure at first. The moment the pressure mounted, we bottled it, like almost always.

Agreed with the above points, and those cannot be fixed if we don’t drastically change for the better next season, starting from a superb transfer window.

Growing pains. We’ll be back next year. Hopefully. :pensive:

Me. he was pants when he played for Spain

No complaints about the result tonight, apart from we should have had a pen for the clear hand ball.
Athletic defended well and Simon played the game of his life, can’t blame Lope for going all in with the subs, we needed the win to have any chance of finishing higher than 4th.
