M26: Elche v Sevilla FC [20/21]

Interesting fact … Elche hadn’t beaten Sevilla since 1937.

The game was in the region of what I expected but with certain caveats. The way we started the second half, strolling out of defence with no real ambition or desire (even less than the first half), wasting time until the substitutions that would signify the late push to take 3 points. But none of that was important, what was clear that was happening was a disrespect for today’s result in favour of Tuesday’s Champions game.

This is how craven and mercenary football is and it’s not the first time I’ve seen it with Sevilla. So it’s not entirely a Lope decision but the mentality of the club and its valuation of €€€€€€.

The big push will be Tuesday to try and regain the Champions trajectory and if not, 4th place will be a piece of cake.

Only Acuna came out with any credit from that awful performance today.

Vaclik says the 2nd goal was bad luck. No it wasn’t, it was bad judgement on his part thinking that the ball was going wide and not covering it.

All the comments on the Bein Sports highlight reel of this game is making my head hurt…not everything is about Barcelona geez

I’ve never seen a goalkeeper go downhill to this extent, I’ve seen it when they lose confidence but never so clear.

Yeah it’s the same old. The commentators always kissing up to Barca and Real Madrid. It makes me sick and always mute it when they start that nonsense.

It’s making me so mad. Elche outplayed us but Barcelona fans are crawling out of their holes for whatever reason pretending that they’re top of the league and comfortably ahead in their UCL first leg.

Yeah exactly. Barca fans are becoming pretty insufferable on Twitter. They claim they are going to easy do the league and cup double now. It’s their arrogance which is awful. Now they winning at Osasuna 0-1 they gonna get even worse.

I love how every time Barcelona have a good performance their fans say “tReBle lOaDinG.” Forgive me if I’m a bit immature about this, but then again I’m a high schooler who’s incredibly agitated over Sevilla’s latest performances.

You have every reason to be. All fans can be guilty of getting carried away or being a touch arrogant. However, Barca fans take it to an extreme level.

Years ago I used to hate Real Madrid more than Barca. Due to I felt they bought the league worse and their fans I thought used to be most cocky. However, over time that’s changed and I dislike both a lot but actually find real Madrid’s fans more bearable to be honest. I hope atletico win it but if not them I’d even root for Real Madrid over Barca nowadays.

Plus the whole Messi and Barca thing has pissed me off too. Like Barca too scared to let Messi leave and Messi to scared to leave. In the end as usual they fall out then make up again. They like a old married couple Messi and Barca and seems both have there way now Bartomeu is out of the president position and potentially facing jail. At least even Real Madrid had the decency to let Ronaldo leave and not try to desperately hang on to him at all costs.

Agreed. I’ve always liked some Barca players, like Iniesta is my all time favorite player, but the whole fanbase is just so toxic, that it is unbearable

The derby game against Betis seems absolutely massive now. Just checked the table and Betis could also get dangerously close to us if they win tomorrow and also beat us in the derby. The pressure is on and we need a response. Today’s shocker has certainly opened the door and gave Sociedad and Betis chances now.

His confidence seems to be totally gone, when he first came in and replaced Rico he put in some great displays and we were all singing his praises.
Since he came back after the his 1st injury he has gone down hill fast.
