I agree he struggles to get us going away from home. He made early changes in 2nd half though where many managers wouldn’t. The game changed completely after those 4 changes. I do like how he makes the changes early as the players on pitch to start weren’t performing to standards.
Sevilla still on top of the league right now.
in 2nd for the moment.
To be honest if we even get near the la liga title we deserve 2 trophies not just one. I mean why bother playing when it’s that corrupt. The ref was a joke from start to finish and ended it in style.
Exactly let’s look on the positive. Barca lost too. We still having a great season and only lost once. I think they disallowed it because we getting too far ahead of Barca. They can’t have their little pretty top 3 establishment upset can we?
Our mentality away from home has been really poor. Still barely getting results as if it’s the only way we know how to get points. We easily could’ve lost today.
No chance. The ref will head one in late on if they struggling don’t worry!
Ok so back to reality. It didn’t matter if we draw or win at the end with a lucky goal. What matters is that we are simply not making progress and not using brilliantly played matches such as the one vs. Valencia or the one vs. Levante just 3 days ago, to build off of it and take this team to the right direction.
Lopetegui is simply not learning from his mistakes and I seriously give up on all this shit now… it is ludicrous.
Suso should never get the start. Ok he got an assist vs. Levante, let him start to hell with that - but then what the fuck does Acuna do there? He’s clearly not 100% and resembles the Navas issue we had last season… he’s basically playing while injured. Then what the fuck is Jordan doing there? Beside that back flick to Lamela for the goal, he has done everything absolutely wrong and shows that he can’t be fielded there if you want to win a match and play attacking football.
What’s even more tragic is that it’s not solely on starting certain players anyway. It’s about the approach. There is a huge difference between your coach telling you to go full attack and outplay the opponent from the first whistle, and your coach cowardly telling you to keep it safe, play conservatively, keep the ball, no mistakes, less attack, we’ll do something in the second half with subs etc.
That’s how pathetic the situation is. And the worst of it all? We actually have the team with the capabilities of totally annihilating the likes of Mallorca and beat them comfortably. I said after the match that Lope will have nightmares about those 2 silly errors that we conceded vs. Levante and he will revert back to the crappy approach, but I honestly didn’t believe that a professional coach would do that. That’s amateurish at best, and very cowardly - something that goes against our philosophy as a club.
It’s never about losing or winning or drawing, it’s more with how you do that and what you can really do with a set of players. Some coaches overachieve, some underachieve, and I believe we are underachieving with the current set of players that we have.
Without a doubt. Very lucky with the draw.
I think the bigger point if we got cheated out of a huge big 3 points today! It’s not a bad point. Give some credit to Mallorca who played well. We got a point and it’s better than Barca managed. I actually think lope is the reason we got a result tonight.
He played a side let’s be honest we were all relatively happy with to begin. Therefore he did decent there. Then when we were getting battered he made early changes in 2nd half that changed the game completely. Without lope we would have lost this game. The players who started were slow and lethargic 1st half. It all changed by the 60th minute.
I agree which in my opinion were more on the players than lope for this one. Lope played similar to Sunday which made sense but they didn’t show up in 1st half. Overall though it a decent point against a decent Mallorca side who played well I thought. Still it should be 3 points we talking about.
Agreed, Lope doesn’t really (from an outside perspective) choose the right players at the right times. Buttt I don’t think our squad is that good either. Especially when you consider the continuation of this selection of player. We only have 4 regular starters who are 24 years of age or younger. This team needs a rebuild to be honest, or at least focus on buying talented young players who can carry this team for more than 3 years.
It’s absolutely not similar, not even one bit similar to the match vs. Levante. Have we seen the same match?
Obviously the tactics and approach were different, the lineup was different… what else does it need to be?
I think we overrate the squad at times. We have lots of good squad depth and solid players. We don’t have a world class player though. In the circumstances I think we doing very well. With what we got lope is doing well in my opinion.
I could have sworn we had a young attacking mid on our squad… ![]()
We definitely need reinforcements, as early as January to be honest.
But I still think we can do much more with this set of players. I know that not every opponent is the same and the matches can get complicated but when the team is set up to play some decent football, we are awesome to watch.
He played the same team and set up except Jordan for Delaney really. He didn’t do his 3 dms thing. Hardly a major change. Acuna in isn’t much of a surprise over Ludwig. I was happy with the starting team tonight like many of us were.
Javi never plays, Montiel has about 90 minutes under his belt and Oscar seemed to have vanished since the 3rd game of this season. Kounde leaving is a matter of time, and so is in a less prominent way YEN.
I’m not sure if anyone was happy with Jordan starting, and if you think that’s a small change, then think again. It’s an enormous change, as we’re talking about the core of the lineup here - the midfield. Without Jordan and/or Rakitic in the field, the game is more fluent and therefore we create more chances.
Acuna is of course the first choice over Ludwig, though you may not know that he is still not fully recovered from the injury, and that is also why he’s not playing the full 90 lately, or not even starting at times. So an injured Acuna is still worse than a fully fit Ludwig.
Also don’t neglect the approach. You may literally have the same lineup against 2 different opponents with different tactics and approach, you won’t get the same result.
Yet we should have won in end. We won that game out right but la liga refs and var authorities stole it from us. That would never happen to Real Madrid or Barca!
I agree we were lucky up until 60 mins after lope made the changes. Still I hate injustice in football. Same for when we got that unjust penalty against Wolfsburg. They should get these big decisions right especially with VAR.
We took control of the game (for the first time) on minute 75, they wrestled it back from us by minute 85.
Really isn’t good enough by a long stretch. 10 minutes being the clearly superior team is a recipe for disaster.
