4-4-2 (or 4-4-1-1) is such a deadly formation if you have wingers who are willing to defend.
I swear Ocampos on left mid in that formation would suit him so good, and being less advanced on the field than in a 4-3-3 will also make us expect less offensive output (goals/assist). Seeing Lamela fight like he does every game he would suit that right mid position very well too.
But your center mids have got to be next level, possessing high ability in stamina and positioning but also be good at everything from defending, dribbeling passing to vision. I don’t see Fernando doing that amount of running anymore, nor Oscar/Oliver have the defensive skills and wills. Jordan has the ability, but not the running drive.

So true. That was how to superglue a defence. Simeone is a genius but personally I don’t want Sevilla to play that sort of football, I want to see enterprising football, I don’t want to watch a chess game.

Real held to a goalless draw at home to Osasuna. Good result for us.
That means four teams at the top are on 21 points including us. Three points separate the top 7.

I saw that one in real time. The distance wasn’t very great and Russo was moving his arm back to try and avoid it. I didn’t think it should have been given at the time.
Man y’all had some damn good discussion in here. We have been top of the league this late plenty of times recently. To be champions though you have to win games like yesterday. We have never done that. Until we do, we will be 3rd or 4th.
