I think we will do enough to stay up. The fact we getting draws and that win at Getafe is creeping us closer to safety mark.
The teams below us need to do a lot to catch us. However, we can’t afford to blow up like end of last season. As long as we don’t have last seasons collapse we will be okay. I just hope we wrap up safely quick so all fans don’t need to panic.
Our attack has saved us this season. We been okay going forward and scored some goals. Reason we still not out of woods is down to our poor defence.
Hopefully our defence improves a bit and we keep scoring important goals and creating opportunities in games against teams around us.
We’re not in bad form at the moment with I believe only one defeat in our last eight matches in the league. Too many draws but they’re better than defeats and edging us to safety.
I look at the remaining games and we have some tough ones but I think there should be enough that’s winnable such as Valencia and Espanyol at home and Oviedo and Levante away to steer us to safety. I know we were in a similar position last season and only just survived but as long as we don’t have a total collapse again I think we should have enough.
We have six points on Mallorca who with 25 points from 27 games aren’t even averaging one point a game. So we may even survive with less than 40 points if that continued. We of course don’t want to be relying on that and hopefully will do the job ourselves as quickly as possible so we can breathe a little easier going into the last few games.
I think the three crunch “must win” games are Levante and Oviedo away and Espanyol at home. Levante and Oviedo because both those are going down and if you can’t beat such teams it leaves you with harder opponents to beat. Espanyol because they’ve been total trash in 2026 with 0-4-6 and are lucky they had a good first half of the season otherwise they’d be in the relegation mix. Win those and it’s 40 points, which would probably be enough in itself but a few draws here and there on top makes it even more secure. I’m obviously biased but I don’t think the Valencia game will be so easy as Valencia have had an uptick recently, helped by a “better than most” winter transfer window. Ultimately, don’t think you’re either going down or making Europe. What’s the thinking on Almeyda continuing? I think your position is down to the board not investing in the squad rather than him, but are there better alternatives?
Did y’all see that Azpi appeared in training today? Anyone have any additional insight if that should be celebrated or if it’s not worth popping the champagne just yet?
Malaga started the season with 4 wins, 3 draws and 7 losses. They sacked their coach and replaced him with the B team manager and under him, they’ve 12 wins, 3 draws and 2 losses, with their youth player Chupete on fire. I think they’ll go up, maybe even automatically as they’re on a point off.
