La Liga - Matchday 14 - Sevilla FC vs Real Betis

Or maybe Almeyda has delivered his resignation. He seems discouraged…

The honeymoon period we had is well and truly over. Sadly I feared we could be dragged into a relegation scrap again. We are not a good team. :poop: exposed us and they were missing their best players too. It not looking good guys.

We have a mediocre squad. Simple as that. We need Azpi & Marcao healthy to have a stable defence. Maybe in some alternate universe Castrín & Salas have a formidable partnership, but even that would take (alot of) time.

One of our reliable players, Mendy, made a crucial mistake today. Odysseas couldn’t make one of those game-winning saves, but he did what he could on the goals. And Almeyda, who usually makes sound decisions, got it wrong in the 2nd half. But don’t let that take away from the fact that this team is clearly lacking in quality, and may be punching above its weight. I want this team to aspire for Europe, even tho it may be destined for midtable mediocrity.

The other depressing thing is our stranglehold over this derby fixture is well and truly over. Even when we been rubbish we still beat these or remained unbeaten but that 2 losses in a row. Not good at all.

@Edinho You used to say when did form or league position ever matter in this fixture. Sadly it is starting to now.

I just want us to stay up. I know the fear of relegation we try to not contemplate it or feel we too good to go down on this board. Even last season I know many didn’t want even consider it until we got dangerously close. Here we are again just 4 points above it and we are starting to look more like last season again.

The key players we have are also injury prone or old. We have to fight through but when you run as bad as we have been it hard to escape that mini battle of just trying to stay in league.

I know its a very heated rivalry game, but man I wish the fans could have not been fart heads. We were looking primed and ready to finish the game with at least two quick goals

Yeah, from anything I could see, it looked to have been like two or three empty bottles. I’m pretty sure I’ve gotten hit by much worse at a high school game. Not to condone it, but the whole thing is overblown

Overblown yes, but it’s a terrible look. I had folks watching the game that rarely watches fútbol and Sevilla came off as “the Eagles”. Ugg

I still have not seen any fallout or comments from the La Liga officials. I am expecting at least Gol Norte to be cleared out for our next home match. Hopefully that is the extend of the punishment and we do not end up having to play behind closed doors.

Official club statement :

The club wants to state the following regarding the events that took place last Sunday, which led to the temporary suspension of the match against Real :poop::

• The club condemns any behaviour or action involving the throwing of objects onto the pitch, especially when it threatens the normal progress of the game or the safety of the players.

• The club is actively cooperating with the police to identify the individuals responsible for throwing objects, using footage from the club’s security cameras. These individuals will face the club’s disciplinary rules, in addition to any other sanctions that may apply.

• The behaviour seen on Sunday does not represent the club’s supporters

Minus the poop part haha

If you could successfully get the club to use a :poop: emoji in their press releases instead of RBB by name, that would be a real victory.

Speaking of, some folks in the Mexico Peña this weekend were complaining how the watch party sponsored by the club had the RBB logo on it.

Wtf

Here is the fallout.

“The Disciplinary Committee imposes a two-game sanction on Isaac and agrees to the partial closure of the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán for three meetings”

" Isaac Romero , who saw the red card for kicking Valentín Gómez, will have to serve two games of punishment. In addition, Sevilla will face a financial penalty of 45,000 euros for the throwing of objects that caused the temporary suspension of the match and will have to assume the partial closure of its stadium for three days. Specifically, this last measure will affect the lower stand of Gol Norte, where the aforementioned throwing of objects occurred.

So, the Gol Norte (poss not the Biris) will be missing for Oviedo, Levante & Celta.

Neither suspension comes as a surprise, both are stupid and avoidable.

We don’t half shoot ourselves in the feet on and off the pitch.

Things aren’t great for us as it is and we need all the support we can get without this stupidity.

2 games for THAT foul?? Pathetic.
