La Liga 25/26 - Matchday 9 - Sevilla FC vs Mallorca

And agree. Surprised almeyda didn’t look to kike instead.

Or even gudelj, though then I’m sure we’d be here listening to complaining about him instead.

Crash back down to reality. Defense has always been an issue, and it was highlighted as soon as Azpi came off. My only hope is if Cardoso will be good enough if he ever sees the minutes. But i don’t see any other candidates for the position, unless Nianzou miraculously becomes fit again to play.

We didn’t do enough with the ball, as usual, even in the moments where we had spells. We simply lack #10. I want to see Akor start more games, cause he will give us more presence up front, and give us more chances to hold the ball up. Isaac doesn’t have the same explosiveness to exploit space like he used to. I think that switch is needed.

The Barça game looks more and more like an anomaly, and we go back to being a better away side. Onto Real Sociedad.

I guess this match show we need at least one of Azp & Nianzou.

Almeyda warned us before the match that it’s not always going to be wins… we’ll lose too

But 1-3 at home to Mallorca? Hope he didn’t mean that kind of stupid loss

A bad 2nd half but these things can happen. We got to pick ourselves up fast and on to next one. Vamos!

Hope CA isn’t out long! Great point about Cardosso. Why wasn’t that the sub?

I guess it would just be a matter of time before reality kicked in following the Barca-game, but against Mallorca at home wouldn’t be my guess. But it underlines the point that it will be a season of ups and downs and we can’t really expect to win any games. It will be a tough fight for three points every week and the main goal is to see a least some progress from game to game.

Even if this had stayed as a 1-0 result, it was still a pretty poor performance. Absolutely no dynamism in attack, no rhythm in midfield, and an exposed defence that relies on a 36yo signed this summer.

I don’t think we’re ready to go back to 2 CBs in defence. But it’s more than just having more bodies back there, cause Ramón & Castrín haven’t looked comfortable. I will always pick Marcão ahead of Salas, but he’s lost a step (or two, or three) since he was signed. He should’ve been able to intervene on that cross for the 2nd goal, and misreading the ball that lead to the 3rd goal said enough.

Also: I watched the game with only one eye, but is it true that the players’ protest at the start of the game was brushed off by La Liga as a sign of peace regarding the Gaza-crisis? Are the guys in the top really that much of a bunch of spineless, pathetic, and whatever slurs you might think of, guys, that tries to hide their horrible decision of moving Spanish football out of Spain and the players’ brilliant protest off on a horrible and bloody conflict?

YES. They totally turned that into something else. This was for sure meant to be a protest for the Miami game.

Wow… totally forgot about the guy today and feel bad for him. When Azpi got injured and couldn’t carry on I immediately thought Almeyda can bring Carmona back in defense, Juanlu with Suazo on flanks and Januzaj or Alexis up front to cover for Juanlu.

Instead, he subs in nr 22. Disastrous.

Now it definitely seems that Cardoso would’ve been a much better sub in overall if he wanted a defensive sub.

It’s just a brutal paradox… something that I still can’t believe happened.

Barca haven’t lost with that result vs a non top-club in…. Decades?

Then to go on and lose in front of your own fans in the same stadium that you did the impossible, just 2 weeks ago.

Still cannot comprehend it

Maybe some tapas and sangrias will help as I’m scratching my head thinking

Betpiss doing what a serious team should do against this pitiful Mallorca.

While we managed to lose 1-3 at home. Way to go…!

Didn’t watch the game as I watch my local club on a Saturday and it’s a crap kick off time. Same again this week also!

I wasn’t expecting much tbh from a match away at Atletico. They aren’t the games that matter in keeping us away from trouble which right now whether people like it or not is where we’re at.

Worrying though how our promising start to the season and form has taken a dive since the Barca result.

Osasuna and Espanyol coming up are both important games that we need to get something from.
