Huge win and massive improvement on how we did here from last season!

good new is all our new signing including Almeyda seems to be decent enough for a upper half table finish.
bad new is Vargas may forced to leave as soon as winter as we still have the debt from the fucking Lope and Covid era.

Just watched the game on replay. Very impressed and we seem to be getting better and better. The Vargas goal was of the highest quality and when he’s playing like this we don’t miss Lukebakio. I just hope we can keep him in January. Alexis with a nice finish also after great work from Carmona.
A very impressive win away from home against a tough opponent who we have not fared well against in recent seasons and who had started well and had just beaten Athletic at San Mames. Away from home we seem to be better. Maybe it’s playing with less pressure and there being less onus on us to get on the front foot and more on the counter attack which seems to suit us
All the new signings doing well and Almeyda looking like a great managerial appointment getting it tactically spot on and not afraid to make changes and try different things. Early days but I really like what I see. After five games, we have 7 points which is a decent start.

Superb win away from home. Hasn’t been easy travelling north as of late, but these boys deserved every one of those 3 points. I’ll be thankful for every game we get those 3 cbs playing together. Although, Marcão better stop going to ground. He took a severe dip in quality last season, so i can’t pretend it’s same guy from Gala. A good defender always stays on their feet.
Carmona had a great 2nd half. He could never build well from the RB/RCB position, so having him at wingback is a refreshing change. He looked more like Juanlu. The move + assist for Alexis’ goal?? 
The way we fought to retake the lead in this game instilled me with confidence heading into the final moments. I was ready to suffer during every minute that ref deciced to add. We won damn near every ball entering the box, and forced them to take wasteful long shots. I even loved the dark arts used whenever there was a whistle. Alavés simply didn’t have an answer.
Man… the good old days when the rich clubs could count on Sevilla for a good DM. 
In his 1st interview, Mendy said he looked up to players like Yaya Toure & Pogba. I won’t compare his game to those guys, but he has quite the toolkit.
There were posts in the summer about Almeyda’s man-to-man coverage. But what i’m enjoying is the timing of when we decided to close in on a player. We almost always won the ball back and continued to dictate play. The forwards helped alot with this too. 
Villarreal will be a welcomed test. I’m still skeptical of how we play at home cause of the ONE win at the Pizjuán in 2025. We’re up against a much better squad, but this is still winnable.
