La Liga 25/26 - Matchday 4 - Sevilla FC vs Elche

This game shouldn’t be on a Friday after an international break!

Suazo being our only left-back sucks for this exact scenario, especially since he captains Chile. You think they let him rest despite the dead rubber vs Uruguay?

How is this match tomorrow when some of our players literally played less than 48 hours before match time. That’s just nonsense. I understand having a tight match schedule, but there should be a mandated minimum of 48 hours between the official end of the international window and the start of the next matchday…ideally more like 72, but less than 48 is absurd.

Most of the squad is available, other than Jordán, Ejuke & Akor.

Hopefully we play well tonight and try get a big win. A draw wouldn’t be the worst result in the world either.

These have started well and only have 1 injury. They drew with Real :poop: and Atleti. They will be tougher to breakdown than Girona leaky defence.

Hopefully we see more of the new games and they can have good debuts. Big match.

Vamos!

Every match is a must win in order to stay up. This is no different

Azpilicueta & Mendy make their debuts, but arguably the biggest surprise is Nianzou & Marcao together at the back. How long will they stay on the pitch?

Nyland

Juanlu - Nianzou - Marcao - Azpilicueta

Gudelj - Agoume - Mendy

Vargas - Isaac - Alfon

That is indeed a real surprise. I didn’t think I’d live to see the day

Nianzou looking nervy on that last one but cleans up his own mistake

Elche Rafa Mir on that last one reminded me so much of classic Sevilla Rafa Mir.

Batista Mendy looks like a proper DM.

Romero on his way back to his first season’s form?

Isaac is lucky to not get red-carded there, to be perfectly honest. Would have been a harsh red, but I’ve seen countless referees give a red for that kind of face-to-face conflict after the play.

Every time Elche creates danger, I immediately hear the announcers say “Martin Neto”. Don’t know anything about the kid, but he’s giving me heartburn. Can we trade him for Peque?

I thought we did okay there. We grew into the game. A great goal by Isaac and we started to control midfield and possession more.

Marcao and Nianzou both did well at centre back. If they can stay fit I feel they can upgrade us.

Mendy decent on his debut so far. He looks strong and energetic. Vargas looks a threat.

We started slow but got better and we were way on top at end of half.

Hopefully more of the same to start 2nd half. Vamos!

Looks more like a 3-man defence with Dave, Nianzou and Marcao. I dunno, but Dave has looked kinda slow and a couple of steps behind in a few instances. Also, Marcao and Nianzou playing with high risks at times and thus this defence still not filling me with confidence.

But we are in the lead and fully deserved in my opinion. But Elche have looked dangerous and it doesnt take more than a simple mistake and they score. Full focus, guys.
