Let’s go! I not posted much lately but I’m looking forward to the new season. Our new manager going back to his old club. That adds a bit more to the duel too. Let’s hope for a better start than last couple of seasons.

Vamos mi Sevilla!

Jordan was left out, while Suso & Sambi remain injured. Saul travels with the squad in hopes of having his suspension overturned in time for the match. Also, only one of Agoume or Iheanacho can be registered for tomorrow, as it looks to be a gametime decision.

This will be Sevilla’s first season without European competition in 12 years, as we begin an ambitious project with Xavi García Pimienta in charge. We start the campaign against his former Las Palmas side with the aim of answering any doubts about his appointment, and how prepared this team is to compete for more than just a top 17 finish. We’ve seen this Nervión side reach lows it hasn’t seen in decades this past year. Victor Orta has done some good work over the summer to bring some overdue changes to the squad, with still some time left to make any adjustments. All signs point to the defence, which has gone virtually untouched.

Every season comes with its share of question marks, and one we must ask of ourselves is how much this team has improved since the contemptuous atmosphere in our last league game at the Pizjuán in June. Every passing year the league gets more competitive, even moreso among the places we aim to finish. The likes of Girona, Athletic, La Real & Villarreal all had better seasons than us. Although each team has their own set of challenges ahead, they will be a threat in the fight for Europe. Have we done enough to be part of that conversation?

Alas, this will be Sevilla’s last season with Jesús Navas in the squad. A man so synonymous with the city & club, that they were once inseparable. He is still so dedicated to this team that it would be unsurprising to see him listed in the starting lineup, having only returned from vacation 6 days ago. He’s had an incredible career with club & country that has gone through many eras, as he ushers us into a new one. A true living legend.

“I’m jealous that he can still train at such a high level at his age. I don’t know if he’ll be ready for 90 minutes. I’m balancing player workloads. […] Let’s see if we can convince him to stay with us for the whole season.” - Pimienta on Jesús Navas

Agoumé is registered. I’m not sure about Ihenacho

I have no doubt that with Ejuke and Lukebakio, Sevilla have a highly mobile attack that could be very potent, it’s the defence that worries a lot of fans. As always in the first games, expect the unexpected.

Bit of a dog’s dinner, Doctor Pepper said if Marcáo is fit he plays. Probably second half.

Why no Bade???

Probably because he has only trained less than a week with the squad. Lots of minutes on those legs from Paris.

Where’s @Rene1 with his “Lets Vamos!”?

I just hope he’s not trying to shoehorn players in to force a 4-3-3. I’m not trying to see Gudelj in midfield, let alone Carmona at CB.

Nianzou starting makes me want to wager some bucks on Sevilla not keeping a cleansheet today :pensive:
