If anything, that front 3 is quick. Great to see Isaac back, and that Vargas is fit after that injury scare last week. The gameplan should be clearer today with a recognized striker, and hopefully we get many chances to counter. We should be fine if the players can invoke some of that gameplay from the Girona game. We’re finally getting a consistent starting XI, so hopefully they can begin to improve their chemistry.
New signing Akor Adams is on the bench. Hopefully the game is done and dusted before it’s time to bring him on.
A tough game as they came into a bit of form and they made a decent signing in January. They won 3-0 at soceidad so won’t be easy. That been on a decent run of results.
If we play like we have been lately I feel we can get at least a draw here. I’m still at the point where I’m not totally confident we can win these type of games with ease. We just not there yet and we have to grind out results.
Our midfield is still a bit weak in the midfield and defence suspect. However, we have quality up front with Lukebakio, Isaac and Vargas.
We are improving slightly but I’m always cautious with any game as we couldn’t beat the bottom teams at home despite being on top in both.
Attack wise Sevilla are without any composure but crazy enough to upset or confuse Getafe, defence wise too many poor controls and passes. Midfield is hardly in the game.
Silver lining of a yellow card early for Isaac is that we might get to see Akor Adams, and who knows, GP mentioned something in his interview about playing with two strikers as an option, could always see if the two Nigerian strikers can find a way to get something flowing
A real nothing-burger of a half. Getafe got the only good chance in the game. We got the ball in dangerous areas a few times, but couldn’t manage a shot. Geta simply needs to keep pressing us high like this, and will render our buildup useless. We can’t even find Sambi & Sow with any consistency.
Well, 1st halves are generally more tight, and hopefully things open up in the 2nd half. The amount of bookings will certainly help that.
Perhaps to give him more room to bomb forward. But maybe Vargas is drifting more inward to give us more presence thru the middle. He certainly has the skillset for it.
It played out the way I expected. A really cagey game as both sides do draw a lot and not give much away. I’m so relieved they missed that big chance before halftime. They should have scored. As trailing this side that are good defensively would be a nightmare to come back.
We had a few moments but we not managed to create a clear cut chance. They defended well to be fair. Lukebakio hasn’t been fully involved yet but it only takes 1 moment with his quality.
The key is to remain solid which we have been to keep that clean sheet and we will get a couple of big chances. We just got to be clinical because it feels like a game of limited chances and either a 0-0 or 1-0 either way. I hope we can win this but I’d take a draw.
Let’s get the new striker on around 60 mins too and give him a chance to make an impact when they tire. Vamos mi Sevilla!
