Rumor has it Monchi is here for Bade.
That wouldnāt surprise me @ShendM
Another rumor is Luka Jovic, the piss poor and super-flop striker of Milan who want to get rid of him asap.
Reportedly Gudelj (a pathetic Tercera material player who somehow happens to be our captain) is supporting the potential move.
@ShendM Iām curious, you have supported Sevilla for many years now. What changes would you like to see at this club. For me I really felt when we signing South American players was a great strategy for us. 4-4-2 formation too. I miss the RSP having a real buzz about the place, putting fear into our opponents.
I think itās deeply messed up Markā¦ so much that a ānormalā change is out of the cards.
A radical change needs to happen. Iām in favor of selling controlling shares to a serious investor at this point. The folks at helm clearly do not understand anything about football, management and business in general. They are lucky to be at helm by chance, and thatās it.
Sevilla FC is being run like a public institution in a very corrupt countryā¦ people stay there for 20+ years without contributing anything, just leeching like parasites.
Itās a shame reallyā¦ but many things have gone wrong throughout the years and the fans were fooled with sporadic ELās or similar, which were mostly luck.
A TOTAL reset is needed for things to have a chance to start working again.
Cosmetic changes wonāt do anything.
I was thinking whether Sevilla is the Spanish Man Utd?
Rotting from the top down. No matter the manager or the players, nothing will change till the club gets rid of those in control.
It may be harsh to equivocate Junior & Castro with the Glazers, but it was a thought that popped into my head.
Curious to see what others think.
There are similarities, indeed. The one thing in common is poor management inside.
However, Man Utd has the financial capability to get big players and coaches and try to turn it around without necessarily changing the management, although I still think Man Utd needs a TOTAL reset as well.
Now whether the new āeraā of a certain club works out long term or not thatās another thing. But you can never know without trying, and trying for real I meanā¦ not cosmetically.
On another note, I am starting to adore certain coaches/managersā characters more.
A quick comparison of Guardiola and Mourinho.
Mou had crisis in Man Utd, and recently in Fenerbahceā¦ what does he do? Blame the refs, blame the club, blame the playersā¦ anything and anyone except himself. Sore loser with no ideas.
Meanwhile Guardiola was self criticizing himself both publicly and internally to the point of self harm, which is not advisable, but it really shows his commitment and trying to find answers from within - because he realizes, just like we all do, it is a psychological problem mostly, and heās there to solve it, orā¦ as Mourinho, blame everyone and run away (or get thrown out!).
Pretty sure Simeone managed the mini-crises of Atletico similarly. There are always solutionsā¦ when you have the know-how and the willā¦ sometimes with a bit of luck, but character and integrity are very important - just like mindset is.
We need someone with Pepās and Choloās mindsets.
As another comparison, the brilliant mastermind Lopetegui, didnāt try to change anything and didnāt even prepare the games beforehand (all in autopilot mode) when he had a crisis. Even then, he was praised and adored by some hereā¦ go figure.
We can finally breathe
Pedrosa always gets his goals disallowed, so iāll take a goal like that any day. How important was this point tho? Imagine losing at home to segunda-bound scum just after a Copa exit? I know things upstairs are a mess, but a coach still has a responsibility to fix things on the pitch. Blaming management is just a cop-out.
Unless we get unlucky again with player fitness, i hope to never see such a dreadful starting lineup again. We had 4 CMs & practically 4 CBs in defence. What in the Bordalas was that?! We had many attacking options on the bench. Suso is a lost cause, but leaving all of Pedrosa, Peque & Idumbo on the sidelines at home was a sorry decision.
Vargas had a promising outing, but iām gonna need consistency to have a positive outlook. He was combining well, and might have a decent shot on him too. Letās hope he donāt fade away. Also, Isaac is either getting deprived of a partner, or weāre not finding him enough. Thereās no way you look at his success with YEN last season, and not try to utilize his skill in playing off someone else. The system has no real direction in the first place. The plan every game is to pass to Lukebakio and hope he shakes someone.
Weāre halfway thru the season with the winter window still open. If Orta donāt address this mfān defence, i may have to go to NerviĆ³n my damn self.
Gudelj failed miserably in the Valencia goal, apart from getting ripped for speed he had a look round to assess the situation, then allowed a left footed player on the left wing to go past him when he should have forced him inside. Isaac forged one chance himself and it was a missile, the speed of the shot was tremendous. Weāve got a lot of impressive youngsters too and they are growing game by game.
With Vargas now and Ejuke soon, things will improve but Sevilla need a centre forward and a central defender, mimum.
We still donāt know the extent of the financial crisis and that is overriding everything.
Barcelona is way above us in many levels, however, today they are showing how a pathetic Valencia should be beaten.
We lost points against Valencia and Espanyol that we shouldnāt have lost, at all costs.
Only for these 4 points lost, if Sevillaās management had a backbone and werenāt complete parasites - GP shouldāve been sacked!
They did the opposite and del nido junior offered him a years extension after just appointing him. Therefore, if they decide to sack him they will have to pay him more. It was crazy to just appoint him and then extend his contract by a year.
They should have at least took stock on how it went first.
As you say, Barca are another level to us but yes definitely points dropped for us at home to them and against Espanyol.
However, the away win at Girona was a bonus I didnāt expect. So that balances things a little.
Iām not sure sacking another manager is the answer right now. His league record at this stage of the season is the best in a few years now. Weāve sacked quite a few in recent years and it hasnāt worked out. Our problems are off the field as well as on it where I genuinely think there has been an improvement this season and signs to be optimistic in terms of squad development.
We need stability right now and sacking GP does not give us that.
Thatās your cue, @sterusebn
Graph incomingā¦
Same as with Lopetegui. I strongly believe another coach with a better knowledge of football would do MUCH, MUCH more with this squad.
But I agreeā¦ sacking GP wonāt do anything good now. Not unless we have someone better already lined up, which is not an easy feat.
I would part ways with GP at the end of the season however, especially if he fails to reach at least the 7th spot.
This squad, with all its weakness and average-ness, has the capability of reaching at least a Conference League spot.
Itās our best post-Lopetegui season. Thatās not necessarily saying a lot. Weāve been pretty poor since he left.
I donāt disagree. I think a better coach could get more out of this squad which even with its flaws isnāt too far off the European places currently. As you say, itās finding that coach and not just going for another mediocre option.
I would agree that if he doesnāt achieve Conference League qualification, the summer could be the time to let him go and find a better manager. I think Conference League is doable with the squad we have and the likes of Sociedad, :poop: and Girona all having off seasons and the league standard generally not being that high.
When I say about his record being better than others, that is also a low bar as @sterusebn outlines!
To be fair, weāre not all that far off recovery from the mismanagement. We have a real opportunity to gain a European spot and get some more cash to improve the squad next year. No, GP isnāt the answer to make all of our dreams come true, but he is really helping the squad stay up and make small and steady improvements in a time that the team really needs it. Definitely no need to let him go at this point. I would say we need to keep an eye out for good coaches that could be available this summer, and once the season wraps up, we can evaluate if letting GP go is the right call.
Well realistically we were very bad in the past couple of seasons since Lopetegui left and with this very bad financial situation due to this La Liga FFP imposed salary cap it has left us even more tight. Looking at that alone it seems that we should really be aiming to avoid relegation this season and top earners like Nianzou and Marcao who are made of glass may not move on until their contract is up (2027 for both). We have 7 wins this season which on paper looks OK but given that we really should have beaten Valencia and Espanyol, regardless of refereeing decisions that isnt good enough. Still I dont think sacking GP is answer given the amount of managers we have had recently and that he was given an extension in september, but time will tell.
