La Liga 2020 - 2021 Season Thread (Non-Sevilla Chat)

Dramatic penalty shootout, happy for Emery to win it again - this time with Villarreal. Well deserved for them as they had a great EL campaign in overall this season.

The only question is, will they be able to follow our steps and become the next Sevilla? This is the same type of question and pondering that we ask ourselves, but ours is will we become the next Atletico?

Maybe that’s why Emery wanted him haha :stuck_out_tongue:

Emery had a knack for aggressive DM’s and uses them well, although Capoue was brilliant tonight, especially in the tactical side. He was literally everywhere and cut Utd’s passing lanes all night long, they were left to play with crosses only. He was massive.

I haven’t followed him in Watford nor do I know about that, but he didn’t play dirty at all tonight. Sometimes you need players like this in the team. As a matter of fact, we need more aggressive players as I’m not satisfied enough with DC and Kounde or Fernando, they are too soft sometimes. We need the physical and aggressive-fighter types like Krychowiak or even M’bia (although the latter not always). I even miss Iborra sometimes… we need absolute fighters in the midfield!

Did you go to that one?

I feel Diego Carlos is aggressive enough. If you look at the pairing with Kounde, he fulfills that role admirably. And in midfield, Jordan shows a lot of that fight too.

Maybe we get that feeling cause it doesn’t come out enough from our captain. But he tends to show it in his own way.

Hmm… yeah DC is a bit aggressive, though not enough imo for his physique and capability. Maybe that’s better because often inexperienced aggressive players lose control and possession… we saw what happened in last season’s EL with DC when he tried to show the opponents who the boss is physically… 3 penalties in a row.

I’d like to see Fernando chopping and pushing players more, same goes to Jordan.

Hahahahaha love that pic!

Haha, im glad as well. Still a bit shocked on how accurate some of my other predictions were. I said Gerard Moreno was going to score in the 22nd minute and Cavani would get one in the 58th.
Off by a total margin of seven minutes, guessed the correct goalscorers as well.

Glad Villarreal won though, great for Emery.

Congratulation to Emery and Villarreal !
Honestly the biggest impression last night is the difference in physicality and athleticism between both teams are huge. United players win majority of duels and Villarreal players are having difficult time to create counter attacks.
But then United simply can’t break through Villarreal defence and I feel like Emery is going for penalty shootout although he claimed that he doesn’t request players to practise penalty ever since 2006.
As a side note I think Monchi should be more serious about physicality and athleticism if we ever dream for Champions league finals.

BTW, did Sevilla official account congrats Villarreal on winning UEFA Sevilla Cup?

Zidane goes, according to the TV quoting Marca. Well, they’re not going to want Lope again, are they? :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

I think Xavi Hernández will be next trainer of Barcelona although some press are dismissing the possibility and there is major league disagreement in the Boardroom.

I know this is kinda toxic but it makes my day better to see United fans losing their minds over the final yesterday. I felt a little bit of remorse before I saw the Scholes tweet and now I don’t feel bad at all for them. If you’re gonna underestimate a team and they kick your behind, then that’s on you

Yes, me and the Lady. A flight from Sevilla to Dublin on Shamrock Airlines, Dublin to Belfast on bus, Ferry to Stranraer Scotland, Train to Glasgow and same route home. Sounds a bit much but we took it easy over 4 days. They put Cruzcampo in the bars so it was perfect.

I am missing Cruzcampo! I have tried finding it in the US but it’s so hard to find

Nothing on the English Twitter though. Not sure about the other platforms.

Just another moment I wanted to pay my respects to Unai Emery. Winning Four Europa League Titles as a manager. Insanely well done man.
