Europa League Semi-Finals - Sevilla FC at Juventus

Ocampos was a huge blow. He was the only one to take initiative and create something for us in that flank… Navas and Montiel weren’t heard much. Gil ran a lot but not that productive, same goes for Acuna only that he didn’t have to run that much.

YEN didn’t get any delivery except for that pass in the first… we’ve been solid in general. The ref was awesome… not much else to say.

Exactly… could very well be a blessing in disguise. At one point I wanted it to stay 1-0 and for us to not go up 2-0, it’s too risky of a result (fake comfortability) going into the second leg.

Sour…

almost 1/3 games that mattered in the bag, back to even. Team performance was good today, eventhough second half we created nothing. Juve weren’t that threatening either, they are lucky to get it in the end. Luck can decide this. We need some more of it next week. Vamooosss!

Agree with Enrico and Shend that 1-1 will make us come out in second leg at RSP more aggressively and with more intensity, which should hopefully bring another great result in Europa League. If we start like we did to blow Man U away in QF Juve are very unlikely to cope either.
Much will depend on how fit and ready Chiesa and Di Maria are for Juve, while we need Lamela and Ocampos to start.

Just back from watching with Ryan and Manuel… man… really could’ve/should’ve had the win. but a 1-1 away first leg is maybe even better than I’d dared to allow myself to hope for. Juventus was reeeaaallly unimpressive and should count themselves lucky. as others said, a lot will depend on our health. but we’re in a good position… let’s take care of business next week.

My eyesight must be getting worse. At 1st glance I read the chalk board behind you saying “Kona by the gallon ale”. Thought you must be a thirsty bunch. :open_mouth:

Just caught the game on record. Gutted to concede the late undeserved Juve goal and not sure where the extra minute was found. I thought they were lacklustre and we more than merited a win. Juve didn’t look a great side and I don’t think we have anything to fear.

Still a very strong performance and a good result that we would have taken at the start of the evening. Fancy us to get the job done at a raucous RSP now.

Vamos!

I am really annoyed that we conceded that late into the game but I’m confident we will still go through.
As someone mentioned above, losing Ocampos early in the game was a blow, hopefully he’ll be fit for the second leg next week

Mark gets it right from before the whistle

I agree, although since we all spend half our time watching Spanish refs…our bar is low. We kept commenting how many cards would have been flying if the ref had been Spanish.

No Ocampos.

Also, Oliver and then Papu are not the strongest options at the moment, but pretty much our only options.

Sounds like Ocampos will be back but Suso will likely not, based on Mendi and Del Nido Jr interviews post match

For the record, @ShendM called a 1-1 tie on the Turin giants podcast. Now please call a 3-0 victory in the return.

Damn near a perfect game. Much better showing away from home than at Old Trafford. Kept things simple, pressed well, and punished them on the counter. We could have done better to find open players on certain attacks, but this game was a template on how to approach away matches in Europe.

Juve were terrible on the night, especially Vlahovic, and were fortunate on that late goal. If anything, they made our objective much clearer headed to the RSP: win at all costs. Proud of everyone on that pitch. Hope we get Ocampos back soon, cause he’s had an incredible revival.

VAMOS MI SEVILLA!!!

It just stinks. If Bade (not Balde as our English announcer was saying) heads that for a throw, the game is over. Just miss-hits it and the ref just felt he had to give the corner. Like all of y’all, I’m ok with the result and think we can get it done at home.

Ocampos was really a huge blow, but somehow the whole team’s approach changed in the second half and there was almost no initiative by anyone.

I think it’s just our attacking play being pretty average. We’re still heavily reliant on Jesus Navas to do something. Acuña contributes too, but he knows his own limitations and starts going forward less after about 60-70 minutes.

Nice observation.

Juve is also playing today, they also rotated their squad for this game. Bremer is back from injury and Pogba in the starting line up after long time.
