Copa América 2024

Anyone want to write up an intro to Copa America? I tried to ask AI and it kept telling me about how Youssef En Nessyri is expected to dazzle fans at Copa America.

Wow… when Group A is the best one in the tournament? Hmph :unamused:

How do you make the predictions with the neat graphics?

Argentina vs Canada 3-1

I watched the Argentina vs Canada game, sorry @Edinho, Messi still great but obviously losing pace, and the Chile vs Peru, it looks such a great competition I’ll be losing sleep for a while watching this.

Canada gave Messi a lot of treatment he’s lucky not to be injured.

I love my Canadian brothers. Most of them have some decent experience, but at times it looked like some MLS level play and made it harder to watch.

Same w the World Cup, i’m just glad they’re able to get matches like these in their repertoire. The gap b/w the “small” & “big” teams is always shortening, any result from this is a positive.

Having said that, Chile & Peru are both washed. I think Canada can still qualify.

If I were going to take that bait, @Edinho, which I’m not…I would respond by saying something like “one goal in three matches ain’t that impressive, either”

Or maybe “impressive to sneak out of the group with a negative goal differential”

But I’m not going to take that bait. Too soon.

Montiel scoring another penalty in the winning series against Ecuador. Hopefully helps with his marketing.

He was brought on in extra time and almost gave away the winning goal for :ecuador:.

Congrats @Edinho. Clearly there will be some shared pride among us Yanks as well as from @frogusmaximus in the fact that Jesse Marsch :us_outlying_islands: is the coach for :canada:

I watched their Copa game with a Canadian as it happens. Thought both team were absolutely dire. Basic errors throughout the whole ninety minutes. Looked like they had never been on a football field. Funny how people have rose tinted glasses on when they win as the Canadian was well pleased at the result and by association Marsch.

First home game Marsch had at Leeds was one of the worst I had ever witnessed. Was clear te players had no idea what he wanted them to do. Through time I’ve come to realsie that’s the sign of a poor coach. Even farke has his team looking like an organised outfit and he is tyactically clueless along Southgate lines.

Eddie Gray, one of the LUFC legends as player, coach and manager always says if the team play well the results will always follow and I’ve always agreed. With Marsch, over the whole year his team never looked the part, though I think he likes disorganised chaos and why relatively speaking he does better agaisnt the better sides than the mid table dross.

Regards

As an aside I totted up the Orta PL player account: money spent on players during our 3 year PL adventure minus the money from selling those players or present value. he is down 140 million. We conclude again that LUFC did actually spend the money required to establish themselves in the PL but Orta simply spent it badly and blamed Bielsa for his failings.

I see Llorente (great when you are winning) and Roca (hasn’t got the fitness levels for English football) have signed for your neighbours. Excellent signings at circa 8million for the pair. Orta spent 28million on them. Thanks Victor.

Go Canada!
