10 men or not, San Mames is always tricky. I think most of us would have been happy with 1 point before the game. Yes, they managed to create one too many chances and yes, they were the better team in periods.
But given the circumstances with our horrendus last few seasons, a handful of new guys and the toxicity between board and fans, this is exactly the type of games that can turn this around. And the fact that all the new guys are making an immediate impact is crucial as well.
Don’t get me wrong, we were given a huge helping hand against ten men Athletic but that’s not taking anything away from the win and performance. Some really good finishes from Ejuke and Isaac.
Credit to the manager for making those positive half time changes and bringing them on when the temptation would be to protect what you’ve got.
We’re in absolute dreamland right now. A rare win at San Mames and two wins from two and top of the league. All this with a depleted squad currently where we will see plenty of movement in and out before the window shuts.

Fantastic support. Let’s be honest none of us probably expected this start to the season, and I am sure none of us expect it to continue. But what I will say is that these 6 points are huge already this season in what we know will be a big struggle with this squad.
What I want to see this year which we were awful at last season is winning the matches that matter… Going out and beating teams like Levante, Osasuna, Elche, Racing, Malaga etc and not having to rely on stealing wins against teams like Barcelona and Villarreal.
