Almeyda Sacked

Anyone for Joaquín Caparrós to rescue us again?

This board are doing the same again. Rinse and repeat!

Eventually though this hiring and firing managers won’t work. It just a sticking plaster and short term desperate act to try keep us up.

The board also worried their share price drop if Sevilla relegated!

Various sources saying Almeyda’s sacking is a done deal, though they’re unclear who takes over. Case of history repeating: Garcia Pimiento was sacked after losing to Valencia in MD31 last season. Caparrós took over with a 7-point cushion but nearly blew it as he only managed 1 win, 2 draws and 4 losses. Don’t even have such a cushion now so the choice is crucial.

Absolutely nuts to sack the guy right now. Especially since he’s just now coming back from suspension.

The decision to sack Almeyda is terrible. But it’s a results-based business, so these things happen. That lengthy suspension definitely played a part as well.

Is it? I think its completely fair tbh. This team might not be good, but its certainly better than 15-17 place. He has lost so many games that should never have been lost and he coach in a way that is more afraid of losing than winning. He absolutely deserve critisism. He might be likeable, but he has underperformed massively.

Luis Garcia Plaza, formerly of Alaves & Mallorca, is the favourite to replace Almeyda.

Get this board out!

Who? :sob:

LGP did quite well with Alaves, but he’s mostly known as a La Liga promotion (from Segunda) manager, having promoted both Mallorca and Alaves within 2 years.

So maybe the management is sensing the relegation and want to have a coach that knows how to quickly get back in La Liga?

Not bad :stuck_out_tongue:

Another season another sacking.

I think it’s probably the right call though, hopefully for a short term bounce as the relegation places are getting to close for comfort and results and performances need to improve.

A bit surprised that they’re going for a manager rather than an interim appointment till the end of the season. Could almost see Lamela and/or Navas (or Ramos :eyes:) getting a call to step in.

Appointing Luis Garcia Plaza doesn’t seem like an upgrade on the current situation. Also if the club is sold in the summer, surely they’ll want to bring someone else in.

Desperate, short term thinking from the board yet again.

Doing some thinking, I dont believe the board was wrong on this. We havent won many games lately and we lose almost every home game. Lets be fair, we have looked completely out of place for many games and many of us have questioned the lineup or the tactics. Especially starting games in a bad way. His team selection has been awful on many occasions. Giving endless chances to players that didnt deserve so. Coaching scared and not to win. The players reflect their manager and they have also looked afraid of winning most times.

our season is coming to and end and we are entering a crucial phase where we need wins more than Ever, and Almeyda couldnt deliver that. Do I feel for him? 100%. He seems like a great guy. But this Sevilla team needs more. They need someone who can get them results. Despite our critisism of this team, they are better than this or at least should be. The players are not THAT bad. Maybe not for a european spot, but certainly better than this relegation crap.

Hopefully the new manager brings some new ideas and Energy into the team - or at least some kind of wake up call.

lets just survive this season and hopefully We Can all look into a more positive summer with a new ownership and maybe a new, exciting coach.

Lots of coaches available, but who in reality comes?

My question with this board is that it’s been the same song and dance every year for the last several years now. Every manager that gets brought in seems to make weird decisions about tactics, personnel and substitutions. Why can’t a single manager have any success here at least to the point of not worrying about relegation?

By sheer luck, with the amount of managers we’ve had in the last few years, we should’ve been able to find someone who can make the team consistently play at their best. So why has the defense sucked since Lopetegui left? Why have we struggled in relegation battles every year? Why are we so bad at home? Is the board terrible at choosing managers? Are our players THAT bad? Are we unlucky? It’s hard to watch the same struggles every year without improvement.

Something has gotta change. Very ready for a new board

That behavior would get him a 41 game suspension at Sevilla.

God I would love to know how much money we have wasted on the sacking of 8 managers over 3.5 years.
