his good games are far less common than games like today in my opinion
YEN is terribly inconsistent⦠it hurts ![]()
I get you, and trust me, I want a more capable striker that can play outside the box too. But the team has been terrible for damn near the whole season. Yousef will always have games like this, but he contributes when heās needed.
Shame we couldnāt hold out till the end, but dropping deeper and sitting back was always going to give Real more chances. With more ambition and sharper play we should have had more chances than just the two against this RM.
Ocampos was very poor in the last 20 minutes, giving away lazy stupid fouls on the edge of our box and not offering much going forward (although all of our forwards did very little in the last 20-25 minutes); should have been him to get subbed imo - but then Suso was anonymous and kept passing backwards and sideways instead of more positive passes.
The supply ref was clearly out of his depth and in awe of Real Madrid in whose arena he found himself making his debut. Valverde and Kroos scythed Sevilla players from behind/side and no booking from the poor sub ref; Sow touched Kroos in 98th minute resulting in obligatory roll-in-agony from Kroos and the sub ref straight away gives a yellow to Sow, meaning he will miss the big match v Real Sociedad.
Why did La Liga refs committee make a 29-year old novice a deputy main ref for tonight meaning he could make his appearance for the very first time in La Liga in this match? It was not Granada v Almeria here.
Latest news is that the ref that subbed the main ref last night is not licensed to officiate a match with VAR.
Sevilla could legally request a replay of the approx. last 20 mins when the new ref got in.
Hopefully thatās true and we can have a decent finish to the game, no matter if we lose or not⦠even if we lose 5-0 for the remaining 20 mins, still, always better with a qualified/licensed ref and with dignity, not with clearly offside goals like that one of Modric.
Just saw the highlights back and we did decent. We were better in attack compared to Valencia game. In the end we succumbed to their pressure in the 2nd half and no shame in that.
The team is fighting much better though and itās a marked improvement on what we were seeing 2 months or so ago.
Hopefully we can keep up this form, team spirit and better intensity for future games.
Vamos mi Sevilla!
It is now mentioned that the new ref has received trainings in VAR.
However training ā license (or the right to officiate).
Letās see what happens. As usual we should be very skeptical about this as thereās less than 1% chance that it can happen, but never say never.
Further news is that former ref Estrada FernƔndez was the one that highlighted the RFEF error on social media. Seems they have a legit challenge.
I agree mate.
Understandably itās taken time but QSF has started to deliver and weāre playing much better football. He has got us looking a lot more organised, playing as a team with an identity and better attacking and defensive play and fight. We are also starting to rebuild for the future, with older players such as Rakitic and Fernando leaving and the likes of Juanlu, Salas and Isaac coming in. Goodness knows that needed to happen!
Heaven and earth compared to under Alonso and hopefully we can keep it up and finish the season strongly.
I agree. The squad is a lot more healthier now and the team spirit looks better. They are fighting for the shirt again and also we have a bit more quality upfront. Itās small steps but we heading in the right direction again.

17 is a lot considering we only made 30 goals this season. If you consider this in percentages with the allowed goals, it looks like we top this list with 34,78% of ALL our goals being disallowed by VAR. This is not even including all those penalties you should get, but did not. ![]()
The team does look more organised and has quality up front and at the back, including better DMs now. But we badly lack a playmaker/more creativity from midfield that Rakitic used to provide before he ran out of gas.
Until we hopefully get a proper, suitable playmaker in the summer, we are short of options it seems. Suso, Oliver are not good or consistent enough for that role; Ocampos perhaps has qualities for that, but may still be better used as the third attacker; Lamela? Pity he has suffered more injuries this season, but I think he would be worth trying in the no.10 role when he comes back (which should be v.soon). He has a good visiion and has ability to pick positive through balls, is very good at sharp link-up play, can score and is consistently tenacious at tracking back, winning the ball and starting a counter-attack.
Saw the game but wasnāt able to comment.
I really donāt think it was the replacement refs fault. We were holding on for dear life already when he came on.
Kike Salas had a really good game in my view.
They were better. They won in a competitive game where, had we taken our chances, anything could happen. But we didnāt. They did. We acquited ourselves fine, but not great. Wish we couldāve done Girona a solid.
On to the next.
You beat me to the punch, was just about to post this MARCA article making this case, implicitly: āPoor Madrid, we have had the most goals called offā
Piss poor journalism/use of data, if you ask me. Of course the teams who are scoring far more goals will have the highest NUMBER of goals called off, the most relevant and interesting statistic is what PROPORTION of goals are called off. And I am too lazy to run the numbers, but seems pretty clear that if you ran that more relevant statistic, Sevilla is at or near the top.
I canāt stand Madrid. But what I REALLY canāt stand are the madridistas. Sergio Ramos included, tbh.
The āsagaā has come to an end. Sevilla decided not to file a request to repeat the last 20 mins (approx.) when the juvenile (deliberate use of the term) ref came in as there is no legal basis found. The ref was in fact licensed to be a sub ref and come in whenever needed, including for matches with VAR.
End of the story. Anyway, we still got robbed due to the offside goal of Modric. Rudiger was purely offside and impacted Badeās positioning leading to the goal.
It can be seen very clearly in this video:
100% offside, I thought so at the time too, but you know - #laliga
Shitshow by the makeshift referee, the Ocampos yellow shouid be wiped.
