When we were playing so well under Mendi last season there was a certain player missing from his line ups.
He comes back and we are shite.
Just saying
I could only hope Mendi learns from his errors, and it better be before the Girona game. When I said Jordan had a good game vs City, it was ‘good’ for Jordan’s standards. Starting him in the very next game was always questionable, cause he needs to be brought along slowly, and consequently went right back to his old habits. Rakitic doesn’t have the physique to cover for those mistakes, let alone young Kike, who defends worse than Jose Angel who’s long gone. Is it worse for Gattoni to start and have a bad game, or for him to be replaced by a cantera player on his way out, who clearly can’t play at this level?
I won’t overreact to Sow not getting a single minute, cause i know his time will come. I don’t think speaking Spanish should be an issue for him, cause he speaks football, and will fit in like a glove. If there’s any positive that comes from Mendi’s lineup, is that it tells Orta that serious work needs to be done before the window closes.
We have Girona next, and we’ll at least have Bade back. Two games in, and we already have a must-win. Critical week ahead.
Sow is the most technically gifted midfielder that we have after Rakitic and the fact that he didn’t get any minute, literally, vs. City and Alaves tells a lot about Mendi’s poor decision making.
Jordan is hands down one of the worst midfielders that I have ever seen in football. Very below average and somehow is still in a club that “aspires” top 4 positions etc.
This is what got me angry. The problems were plain to see … maybe the fact that Sow wasn’t on the teamsheet might have freaked some players. The defence leaks needed plugging up and Sevilla needed to reshape but it didn’t happen.
It comes on the back of questionable decisions in pre-season (where we give a free pass). The Antonio Puerta trophy a prime example. Decision making seems to be his problem.
I’m not calling for him to be fired already and hopefully not this season but the fans need to have their voice heard.
Have any journalists asked about Sow?
Yep. Two matches for that non-foul would be quite something.
But then again, the curse of the Marcão is still with us… with our luck he’s probably injured by now,
Wins against Girona and Las Palmas needed in the coming games.
Can’t see us getting anything out of Atleti.
Hey now. We tied them in San Francisco. Ok, ok, a friendly tie, but let’s not get too pessimistic this early in the season. It’s been three games, and one of them we laid it all down on the pitch, so not that surprising that the team wasn’t fully present or fully fit the match before and after. Pretty unsurprising in that light, actually.
