Promes had a high release clause in his contract, but i think what made this happen was that he really wanted the move. He probably has more faith in this Ajax project, especially as i learned that Ten Haag coached him at Twente years back. There’s also the CL, as these are the crucial years in his career. I can’t hate him for it. But man am i gonna miss seeing him make players drop! 
There are plenty more LWs in the sea, but where will we acquire such a talent with our budget restrictions? #InMonchiWeTrust

One thing that hurts more than letting him go… is letting him go for that cheap. Average players in The Championship of England cost more than that nowadays.

I guess Monchi is gathering up funds to make moves in the market. Muriel for 15M, Promes for 15-20M and Sarabia for 20M, that’s pretty close to 60M and add in the 40M I expect to have we could have close to 100M for some serious reinforcements. He is also trying to reverse the effects of the signings he didn’t make as most players were signed when he was at Roma.
The sales do make some sense in a financial point of view. Sarabia’s contract ends in 2020 and he has not penned a new contract with us even though one was on the table, add in an ultra-low release clause of 18M and 20M on the table looks alright to me instead of losing him for free at the end of the season, it also highlights the relationship we have with PSG, they are willing to put in 2M as a bonus instead of activating his clause outright, might help us in acquiring some PSG assests. Promes’s situation is similar to Konoplyanka’s, he was talented but couldn’t really translate to the league, and he probably didn’t fit in off the field. He has a “modern” release clause (150M) but was also one of the highest earners in the squad so letting him go would let us be more flexible financially and not to be held to ransom when giving out contracts (look at the Sanchez fiasco at Man Utd).
Anyhow, if we have cash I fully expect we spend but not for ordinary players, we enquired for Campana and Levante responded with a 30M valuation as he just signed a new contract. However good he may be he is not worth more than Promes or Sarabia. Spend that on Luis Alberto and we are in business.

Moreno has agreed to join Villarreal, if we were in the running then he would probably have come but since he has now agreed a move elsewhere Monchi probably wasn’t convinced. I saw that Villarreal managed to sign Raul Albiol too and was ready to ask why weren’t we involved before finding out he’ll be 34 when the season starts, Villarreal certainly like their defenders well seasoned as Bonera still gets chances to play at 38.
Krychowiak’s loan to Spartak was made into a permanent deal, so that’s another possible deal off the table. Valencia are rumored to be in for Cillessen so it appears all our competitors are making moves. We need to make moves too and major ones quick.
One or two sources now reporting that Man Utd would be very interested in paying the €40m release clause for WBY if Lukaku goes to Inter.
No offence to WBY’s ability but the Premier League would be a challenge, most teams there are using a combination of a 343 or 433, strikers are expected to hold their own either physically or outpace them. WBY is not particularly fast and at 1.7m would be at a disadvantage. Man Utd also won’t play with two upfront, Martial and Rashford would be pseudo-wingers with Mata or Pogba supporting him.

12.5m for Luuk De Jong. Why? He’s 28 and has been complete shit every time he’s left Holland. Bye WBY I guess.
I don’t mind it. He could be a good banger for us and is super cheap.
I will always have doubts about goalscorers from the Eredivisie. Luuk De Jong seems to be having another decent spell in his career. Maybe it’ll translate well in La Liga.
In terms of Ziyech, i like the player from what i seen during Ajax’s CL run last season. For me, he can go to big clubs like Utd & Arsenal. Us having a shot at him tells me he’s concerned at the style of play (which also rules out Atlético & Valencia). The final of AFCON takes place on July 19, if Morocco were to make it that far. So there’ll be a long time between now and then for more speculations to come out & his head getting turned. Would be a great signing. Hopefully it really is a 95% done deal as i’ve been seeing.

Why are we not chasing Borja Iglesias, he is strong, target man, domestic player, already adapted to La Liga, he is same type of player like De Jong. It will be really pity if Betis snatch him.
Latest news is if we don’t get Ziyech then Lucas Ocampos from Marseille will be the next in line. Quoted price is less then 20M so he would be decently priced. Still think Ziyech would really take our midfield to the next level. Add in Luis Alberto and we are on a roll.
Chile’s performance in CONCACAF haven’t gone unnoticed and we are rumored to be in for their defensive midfielder Erick Pulgar, guy is over 1.8m and is good at defending in the air and can score his penalties. He is playing for Bologna so I am confident we can get him for around 10-15M euros.
Looks like we offered 13million Euros for Lucas Ocampos. Is it possible we end up with Ziyech and Ocampos? Would that lean towards playing a 4-3-3 instead of the 2 strikers?
Well it’s a new era again. It’s good to have Monchi back! We need to rebuild the squad again. I think though it’s a good thing as we need new faces into the team to revitalise the club and the fans.
We will see how Lopetegui does. It could go one way or the other. He seems motivated and up for the challenge so hopefully he can do a good job with us! It’s hard to tell till we at least 10 games into season.
