This is the new normal, it’s genius stuff to discard a player with defensive abilities in favour of another with attacking ability because everything is a trade-off and the stats say do this or do that.
I sometimes think this is a gross error, I watch modern football and the boring circulation and back passing and think ‘Why?’.
The modern football we now see is primed for yet another radical evolution, the problem is integrating the science with the game and the Manager’s ability to communicate the method. Credit to Sampaoli that he had radical ideas and almost broke through.
