I know it of course won’t work out like this but we are currently on target for 76 points this season. 😅 But last night again backs the point I made a few weeks ago before the season starts, like the Espanyol game these are the games we need to be taking points from. Teams in and around us, not losing 4-0 to Levante and 3-1 to Alaves and then hoping we can steal a point against Barcelona, Real Madrid etc. Do the hard work against the teams you wouldn’t want taking points against other teams, give yourself a cushion over potential “relegation” rivals. It is far too early in the season, and injuries, suspensions will build up, but we have started the season far better than I am sure anyone on here would have expected. Looking at the 5 games we have played I expect most would have had us down for about 5 points by now, the fact we have double that is marvellous, and gives us a bit of wriggle room in a sense. Our next five is a funny set of games… Winnable ones against Depor, Levante and Osasuna broken up by Barcelona and Real Madrid. If we can take 5 points from those 5 games, we are still in a very good position. 6+ would be a huge bonus for us. ---

We might be doing well at the moment, but we are still very much in a relegation battle until the points on the board later in the season say otherwise. The quicker we can get to 35-40 points, the easier we can breathe in a sense, and the further up the table we can look, potentially upper mid table on the cusp of the European places. ---

I agree. We have started well but we need to stay grounded as things can change fast. As you say, we have Barca and Real to come and Depor are flying high right now so that will be a difficult game. On the surface we seem to have a better squad than last season and I’m hopeful that we can steer comfortably clear of relegation and even push for European places. However the first goal is to ensure survival as that currently is the reality of the club’s situation and has been for the last few seasons now. ---

Him getting the boot is long overdue and you may actually have done us a solid there. I didn’t watch the game but the consensus on Valencia forums was that both teams are a shadow of what they once were and neither was that great but the win for Sevilla was deserved and you probably should have had a first half penalty. 10 points from 5 is a really solid start and from there it’s a case of push on to 40 and see how high you can get above that. You don’t need me to tell you that the squad depth is lacking, but if you can continue to take advantage of opponents misfortunes, who knows? ---

So we shouldn’t be underestimated, though I think the real tests will be against Depor and Barca in the coming days. Depor - how we play and approach the game with a full team against a tricky side that is ambitious this season Barca - how we play and approach the game vs. arguably the best team in the world for the moment ---

Watching back the highlights I love how balanced the team is this season. You can see we have more pattern to our play and we signed better quality players to last few seasons. It still way too early to get excited but a lot more green shoots so far. I’m hoping we can have a season where we don’t have to worry about relegation and we can be closer to European places than bottom 3. It was a great header by Iglesias too! We created lots of chances and limited them to very little. It looks much better so far. Our board and sporting director gave us a much better transfer window. Luis Garcia Plaza is getting the best out of our players too. Fofana is a top signing team and he looks so good! Happy days! What a start to the season! Vamos!! ---

Not the most entertaining or well played game, but we were solid at the back and Fofana really is a monster in there. Much needed physicallity. Still Think the technical quality of this team is low. Way to many Long balls and bad decisions with the Ball, but this team can fight. Isaac and Stassin worked their socks off. Kike Salas and Castrin compliments each other well. Felix was dissapointing. Hardly made a right decision. Ure was the same old. Hardly notice him. Iglesias is solid and great goal, but Carmona should get more chances as he offers more offensive wise. Fantastic start to the season. Imagine we had won vs Espanyol! LGP working wonders right now! ---
