Safe to say we still need Marcão for some structure back there? I couldn’t watch the match in full, but it seems to have provided some answers in terms of the capabilities of this squad. There will be more teams like this Espanyol side, and i hope we do the business then. I’ll try rewatch this later tonight. Bring on Valencia! ---

I still can’t see anything wrong with their ruled out goal. How can it be offside when Castrin was stood on the goal line? Then Espanyol were given the late goal where Replays showed 2 of their players were offside. Maybe the ref was evening things up? Sangante is starting to look solid at the back, replays show he made a great tackle to win the ball , but for some reason the ref saw different.& why did VAR not intervene? In my opinion Kocho is going to be a liability this season if he continues with his reckless tackles, I’m sure he would have seen a red if he stayed on the pitch. Got to say Ure has not impressed me so far, Has he actually had a shot or header on goal in the four games so far? I can’t remember one. Thankfully Stassin has surely stamped his place to start upfront instead. Also Fofana looks a beast of a player who can bulldoze his way through defences. ---

First post on these forums after I was referred here looking for an English Sevillista community. A few thoughts as a rookie football-watcher (hockey guy for almost 30 years). - Referring was inconsistent. I didn’t think the red on Sangante was merited. - Stassin looked better up front and more accomplished than Ure. Is it safe to say that Stassin will be leaned on more and Ure is to be a long-term project for the club? - Although a win would’ve been nice, leaving with a draw after being down a man is a positive. For the rest of you experienced Sevillistas, do you think this roster will challenge for Europa/Conference positioning? Or will they finish mid-table? I don’t believe they’ll be near the bottom for relegation. ---

Welcome to the forum @Catingub Fofana and Sassin came on very hungry. Sassin worked like a horse up front and Fofana celebrated an interception in the middle of the pitch just before the final whistle. Always positive signs. We just need to see what Correia can bring us, and we can still somewhat count on Vargas (until January perhaps). It’s too early to say but it would be safe to say that this team at least should try and aim for a top 7 finish. The quality is there. ---

From what little I know of the rules, most likely Castrin was considered the “goalkeeper” in that case and Vlacho the last defender, putting the Espanyol player who was slightly behind Vlacho in an offside position. ---

That’s what I understood too. It’s the first time I recall seeing that scenario and it had me scratching my head. Even if the ref judged that the takedown was a foul after winning the ball. There was no clear indication that Roberto would have won the ball back so the denial of a goal scoring opportunity is bullshit. A free kick and a yellow would have been the right call. If at all. ---

The GK in front of the last defender is exactly what happened with the disallowed goal. They effectively swapped places. It is rare to see but does happen from time to time. Their goal was so annoying though, how can their guy have a free header, centre of the box in the 8th minute of injury time. Absolutely criminal defending, should have been 11 defenders in the box by that point. Glad to hear the newbies seem to be having an impact, just a real shame for Sangante that red card, I have seen it 3 or 4 times and cannot see what the hell it was for. ---

Just to give Robbie Ure a bit of credit: apart from one pass that he technically failed to control properly, he hardly received any decent service at all. I’d even argue that he would have scored the same goal Stassin did. It wasn’t exactly a piece of brilliance. Stassin should already have scored earlier when he was clean through on goal. That said, Stassin has given himself an advantage for the time being. ---

The Goalkeeper being ahead of the last defender has always been a rule as long as I can remember and I am 42 years old. ---
