RIP to the victims and condolences to their families. At least 68 people killed in the fatal crash accident, this is a huge tragedy. [2026 Adamuz rail disaster - Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2026_Adamuz_rail_disaster) - this already happened in January this year and it was less than 3 months since I last used the line. In total I used this line’s train 4 times, so it hits different, but I still can’t comprehend how it is possible to have 2 tragedies with a lot of victims within a year. Accidents and crashes happen, but when they do, you make sure that it doesn’t happen again and take necessary measures both in tracks, communication systems etc. One of the survivors told the press that they were staying idle for about 10 mins when another train of the same line hit them at a high speed from behind. Really, really bad. ---

Yeah, it is a bit scary. I’m sure many of us have taken that route. We are scheduled to take the train from Madrid to Córdoba next week if it is reopened. I should probably look to book a rental now, just in case I have to drive it. ---

My usual route was landing in Madrid and then taking the train to Sevilla. I will definitely have second thoughts now, even though I regularly travel with high speed trains within Europe, like in Italy etc. I’ll be either considering a flight from Tirana (3 hours drive) to Malaga and then rent or land directly in Seville with connecting flights with potential stopovers. 2 major crashes within 9 months with 114 dead in the same train line is just too much.
