We have to make a 10m profit in Jan to balance the books. So Vargas or Juanlu???

I never expect anything in these type of games. Sadly we just weren’t good enough. They not even that great but they did enough to win.

We are beating the teams we should be beating though which is why we bang in the middle of league. As long as we keep that up we will be fine and not in relegation trouble.

I just ignore him now.

Always a total overreaction even when we lose away at Real Madrid. Anyone thinking we could get a result is deluded. Even when we were a top 4 side we struggled there. These aren’t the games that matter in us staying away from trouble.

January doesn’t look a bad month for us with home games against Levante and Celta and away to Elche. Hopefully pick up some results.

20 points on the board means we’re about halfway to safety and we’ve not played half our matches yet. We are nearer to the European places than relegation. Better than the last few seasons and until our financial situation is resolved, this is our reality. Until that point, it is all about survival.

As for Almeyda. He is doing a reasonable job with the resources he has. I can’t see anyone else doing better right now. Sacking yet another manager isn’t the answer as has already been proven. We need stability right now.

Exactly mate. Seems to be lost on some.

Juanlu definitely.

Vargas a player we could do with holding onto.

Watching the extended highlights we really played quite well in this match.

We created lots of chances and Isaac and Sanchez should have did better with a couple. Courtois saved them. Madrid are poor at back and we could have made them pay.

It was an encouraging performance and think we will be okay. Got to bounce back against levante now after the Christmas break.

I agree. We need to be grateful where we are.

It an improvement on last season so far. I feel Almeyda and Cordon have done as well as they can to steady ship despite the terrible financial situation, circus in boardroom and in fighting with fans and club.

It will take a while to fully heal but at least we keeping our head above water. It could be worse. I will take this season in mid table in a heartbeat.

Almeyda is really pissed at the red card.

ā€œI’m not a clown in a circus,ā€ he told reporters during his post-match press conference. "I have a history in football. I have my history as a man.
[The red card] hurts me, and I’m obliged to talk about it, because they’ll say that I insulted the referee.

The referee was very bad. I congratulate Real Madrid on their victory. I’m not saying they benefited from it. But I’m against how bad the refereeing was. That’s why I was sent off.

[The referee] said they were tired of me speaking to them with disrespect. If there’s a lack of respect, let’s hear it. If there’s rudeness, let’s hear it. I have values."

@Aduk92 in respect to Chris I’m holding myself from saying some things to you. Your lack of manners could get you hurt in real life. Never talk behind people’s backs.

As for winning the matches we’re supposed to win - it’s a pure delusion. We’d be top 4-5 if it were true.

That’s the main problem in fact, we are not winning the matches we’re supposed to win. The real question is which matches are we supposed to win?

I can count them in one hand to be fair, and that’s not good.

Couldn’t agree more Aduk. We’re 10th. The sky is not falling. A weird year where Europe and relegation are so close, but we’re bang in the middle. Stabilize the ship. Win the games you should and I’ll be satisfied (though not happy) with the season. That’s what I’m hoping for.

Of course, this team could just as easily go on a multi game slide and in a few months we’re more seriously talking about relegation. But for now, I’m going to practice my breathing exercises and be a little more tempered in my expectations for a team we know has some major structural challenges it still needs to work through.

A sign of his passion and dedication or a sign of desperation and being kinda fed up of this whole predicament?

I think more along the lines of being pissed off at the terrible refereeing and the circus they create.
