La Liga 24/25 Matchday 38 - Sevilla FC at Villarreal

Depends on the comparison. We can compare him to a Tercera goalie… he might be better than them.

But if compared to an average goalie in La Liga… utterly terrible.

Anyway, that’s it for this season folks.

Disastrous season, the worst we had since coming back from relegation in the 21st century.

Hoping for the better… but very, very skeptical because of the criminal and catastrophic people in charge.

I agree with that. He’s better than anything we’ve got but that’s not saying a lot.

Looking at our squad I wouldn’t keep hold of many.

Bade, Agoume, Lukebakio and Vargas and I’m struggling after that…

We lose some of them and we really are toast.

Most of the rest can go though as they’re not good enough and the wage bill needs cutting. We need to sell before we can buy in our financial position with the debt we’re in.

A huge summer ahead to completely revamp this club and its personnel but I don’t think our board is up to the job sadly and until that changes I’m struggling to see our fortunes on the pitch improve.

You are right @Aduk92 hard to see a path forward right now.

Gueye a player of real quality who I wish we still had.

I agree mate. I hope I’m wrong but unless something changes significantly in the summer I fear relegation next season. This board aren’t up to it anymore, with no money, likely losing key players it will be a real struggle to stay up. It sad and scary times.

Let’s hope for a miracle in the summer or the 3 to come up to somehow be worse than us.

Scares me how things will be without Bade and Lukebakio who you couldn’t blame for leaving if they did  Let’s pray for a miracle :folded_hands:

When a team as small as Rayo qualify for Europe and Sevilla barely qualify for La Liga, it tells you all you need to know about how the clubs are being run..

Thanks to you all for staying the course over the season and for keeping this community going.

We can only hope for a better season in 25/26.

4-1??? What is going on? A very bad season, the worst for a generation. Next year doesn’t fill me with any hope either. We were very lucky this season, maybe GP performed a minor miracle with this set of players? What do you guys think? I wasnt a huge fan, but he got sufficient points on the board that pretty much got us over the line..

I think when you look back the decision to sack GP was the wrong one and we regressed following it.

Personally feel we wouldn’t have been in such a scrap if he had stayed.

Tend to agree, Aduk92, but what a summer coming up, new manager, new players… We need some clever and smart recruitment, I always thought we bought well in South America, we need tough players that can play good football, a solid team etc..

Are you based in Manchester?

I am based in Manchester, Mark.

Like you say, a big summer ahead. We need to get the manager appointment right with a view to the future and building a long-term project and not just short-term sticking plasters like we have been doing. A squad overhaul then needed to sell the many deadwood we have and yes clever and smart recruitment and we have in the past bought well in South America.

Thank you all for this season. A season to be remembered. Not for anything good, but as an eye-opening lesson that no team or club is too big to be relegated. Valencia has been close and now it was our turn. And man I hope everyone around the club learns from this and we will see a whole different approach from now on.

Starting from the manager. Bordalás seems to be the first priority and even though his style of play in Getafe makes it turn in my stomach, I will welcome him with open arms if it means he can change just something.

Whenever a team has had a bad season the fans call for a total cleanse of the squad. I am not usually for this, but man there’s a lot of dead weight in the squad. If not Orta is already on the verge of finding a new club for some of these (Marcao…) even though we might take a loss I will seriously question why he is getting paid at all.

Niller out.

Only watched brief highlight reel, but from what I could tell from the chances, we actually had a fair number of chances that could have put us back in the match today. Fortunately the match didn’t count from anything.

ONE POINT away from relegation on Matchday 38. That’s wild to think about. One point separated us from 1-2 seasons in purgatory, maybe total ruin thereafter…

Very lucky we snuck in that goal versus Las Palmas!:game_die:

Friends, we arent aware of how lucky we were this season, I’ve never felt something like this since I’m a Sevilla FC fan, tbh i lived during the good moments I’ve always seen Sevilla in the top half of the table, challenging for Europe and for titles. And I have to admit something, I have never been this scared about a new season, we will sell our best players (Badé & Lukebakio) for a very very low price because we need to sell otheriwse our dept will increase and we might lose Kike Salas bc of that betting scam he is involved in. The worse of this is that Orta does an horrible job as a Sporting director so the reinforcements that will arrive will be even worse… I dont see three teams to stay below us again.. The only good point is that it seems the manager of Sevilla Atletico will be our manager next season, he is what we need, because he did a very good season there without good players.
Let’s pray together for a resurrection of our good old Sevilla FC!
