I also have to say that I consider today the day we guaranteed our top flight status next year, albeit not a mathematical guarantee. We’re now 10 points clear of relegation…p’adelante.
@ShendM is Pimienta starting to convince you?
I like what he’s starting to build and we’ve definitely improved this season for me.
Hope we can keep it up and end strongly with European football next season. That has got to be the aim!
36 points is near enough safety you’d think but hoping we now have far bigger fish to fry personally!
Great win today… Looked really solid and Passing and movement looking good also… Keep climbing La Liga!
Emery proved that it’s entirely possible to take a team of novices to smash that level, so I’m with you on that but I have to square the extra work load against the la liga challenge.
El Sevilla should have the capacity to finish 3rd in la liga, that should be the aim of the directors of the club, that should be the ambition, not 4th 5th or 6th. Today we are still a long way from that and there’s no possibility this season.
Completely agree.
Think we have to acknowledge though that we’re going through a transition and it will take time to get back to where we were fighting for Champions League places in 3rd or 4th which has to be the aim ultimately for this club.
I can definitely see progress from previous seasons though where we’ve been battling relegation and are now fighting for European places. Getting into Europe this season would hopefully be the first step in our rise back to where we were eventually.
Can’t say without adding at least 2 other matches, that should clarify whether it’s a fluke (like 100% of the time) or we’re starting to build something
Fair enough.
One defeat in nine is definitely a solid run though even if a few too many draws especially at home against lower table sides. Wins away against Girona and Sociedad counteract that though.
Athletic and :poop: next two matches will be a big sign of where we are I’d say.
And there are good signs that it’s going in the right direction, it’s the finance that will hold us back but with patience it’s better to go for the organic way and build from ground up every time.
We are starting to see the fruits are our labour now. The players are understanding the manager’s tactics and gameplay more. He is also getting better with substitutions.
We are defending much better since we entered 2025 and then have a few players up front that can create magic and be ruthless in front of goal.
I not getting carried away because the season been up and down. We bang on middle of the road with 9 wins, 9 draws and 9 losses. We are 10th so we couldn’t be more in the middle and at crossroads in season.
However, plenty of positives and we definitely safe now which was the essential aim and a big relief. We have a chance of Europe and only points off :poop: in 6th. We only 1 point off 7th. It would be great way to end season if we ended up battling :poop: for 6th.
Vamos mi Sevilla!
Id love to fight for 3rd or 4th but it will take time. It not impossible in the future though but as you say finances are tight.
We have had to suffer a few seasons out of the top 4 and maybe more but the club is capable of getting back there. I really hope that is what happens as many of us couldn’t contemplate going the opposite way like deportivo did.
If we get the board situation resolved and keep recruiting smart then hopefully we can stabilise more and start fighting near the top positions again. We just got to be patient but Sevilla football is capable of coming back. Let’s hope it can. Vamos!
Spot on mate.
The off-field situation definitely needs resolving in terms of finances and the board so we are on a more stable footing before we can realistically aspire for regular Champions League football. That’s not to say we shouldn’t aim for it though but that it may just take time and patience.
I think outside of Barca, Real and Atleti, we are as big or bigger than any other club in La Liga. It was only a few seasons ago where we would always finish ahead of the likes of :poop:, Bilbao, Villareal and Sociedad so no reason why we can’t again going forward.
As you say let’s hope the only way is up and not down like we’ve seen with Deportivo and Valencia.
We are now on 9 wins this season and on the back of last night, we are doing pretty well. This summer we lost Ramos, En-Nesyri, Acuna, Ocampos, Lamela and Torres and this winter we lost Navas. These were all players who when fit started (Other than Torres). We responded by spending I believe €16m this season. That is nothing in todays market but I believe when looking at it like this it highlights our season best. We also seem to do better away than at home right now and our home form is a cause for concern but in the remaining matches this season we have Valencia, :poop: and Celta Vigo away and Las Palmas, Leganes and Alaves at home. I believe that other than :poop: away we should be able to get something out of these games and while its not great, its at the very least an improvement on last season.
On another note I would like to see Isaac in No.10 and Adams to start at the striker position when he returns. I believe that he would be better here because he can make runs and would have more freedom.
Not sure if Akor is fully healthy or not, but my gut is that Akor Adams will not get to play this next match because holding back his medical will allow them to keep him from rushing off to play for his national team immediately. A desire to go play for Nigeria is understandable, but also poor timing, so I suspect everyone saves faces best if he doesn’t get medical clearance until after the international break.
The question then becomes whether he gets any minutes at the derbi or not. But I’d pencil him in for the matchday following the derbi. You heard it here first,
Speaking of missing faces … Where’s Gudelj? First time in ages that we haven’t seen him for a couple weeks (or was it just one week?)
Tres semanas! The Last two listed as injured “dead leg”.
Shows how much I’m paying attention, I guess. What I noticed was the specific lack of shots from 40 yards out. With a couple Dodi exceptions…
I didn’t known he wasn’t on the bench either haha. Says a lot!
