Farewell Wissam!

Wissam Ben Yedder came to Sevilla in July 2016 making his debut shortly after his signing against Barcelona. He came relatively unknown to most here at Monchi’s Men and there was some nervousness about the signing. He quickly showed that he was worth ever bit the transfer fee by started his scoring tally on August 20th, 2016 in his first start against Espanyol at home.

During his Sevilla career he was a scoring machine and was known for his constant work rate. In the 2016 Copa del Rey, he tied Messi for the tournaments scoring title. He helped lead that 3 goal comeback against Liverpool being subbed on at halftime. His most notable game was probably the Man U game at Old Trafford where he scored 2 goals in 4 minutes after being subbed on to push Sevilla to a historic victory.

He finished his Sevilla career with 70 goals and 22 assists in 138 total games across all competitions. His 70 goals put him 5th all time on the Sevilla scoring list. Not bad for a 9 million Euro signing.

We here at Monchi’s Men wish Ben-Yedder nothing but the best at Monaco and with the French national team. Thanks for the memories!

Got better every season. At his best in European competitions. That off the bench performance at Old Trafford will live on for a long time. Did it the right way.

Disappointing to see Wissam go although not unexpected.

Prolific for us and I just hope that the likes of Dabbur, De Jong and Munir can step up. Maybe some more activity yet in the transfer window? Monchi hasn’t ruled it out.

Ben Yedder leaves and we still leave Dabbur out of the squad against Espanyol? What’s going on?

Has to be an injury no?

WBY always start the season as a bench player but convince the coach with his hard work and win the starting position. Except the genius Montella.

Apparently it’s a technical decision and not an injury!
