Aside from that we were toothless in attack and didn’t really deserve anything from the game. A poor match and Atleti weren’t great either but they still managed to beat us and looked the more likely throughout.
No trophy or European football for us next season. A relegation battle now to contend with. Hope we can find it in us for a scrap and to stay up. Osasuna on Sunday the first of many cup finals.
Only 2-3 players (max) tried to do something after we conceded last night. Everyone looked defeated… and as Chris mentioned, lacked balls.
No passion, fighting spirit… nunca se rinde inexistent.
This is not only shameful, but sad.
Perhaps Segunda would be a blessing in disguise at this point?
Or hopefully things would turn around after avoiding relegation this season.
Massive changes are needed, starting with the mentality of the entire club, from the President to the grass cutter. Everyone should talk about winning and big aspirations, not tuck their tail and wimp…
I somewhat agree with @ChrisLail I think there was a case for Sow to have won a penalty. With the second challenge I’m like 95% the AM defender doesn’t get a toe to the ball.
Anyone else feel the back three doesn’t work? If we could get Marcao & Bade fit to play together, I think a back 4 would be better for our defence. There always seems to be a least one defender caught ball watching, out of position in and around the box.
The defense in overall doesn’t work when you have a 37-year old Ramos that is super clumsy and slow, a Marcao who is not 100% fit, an inexperienced and clumsy Nianzou and a Bade that is gradually losing confidence.
We need a total revamp in defense come next season if we survive. Only Bade and Marcao to an extent deserve to stay in the team as CB’s. Others are crap, so we need to get rid of them all.
Hey y’all, just wanted to add my two cents. Being able to go toe to toe with Atlético in their home stadium…is an accomplishment, given what is going on.
Am I still annoyed we lost?
Yes.
Are we slowly seeing signs of progress that we can start winning a game here and there and avoid relegation?
Did you get to see it? Did we really go toe to toe?
They scored two great “just offside” goals if not almost three and we barely got something on goal. We held on decently for some time but I would be hesitant to start making this one too positive Ryan I like the approach tho but this was not the “hope” I was looking for when I was talking about me stopping to hope for anything. I want to see something hope worthy on the pitch!
I am in agreement with Ryan, we should have been done and dusted in this one very early on. I think that we have seen signs of progress in yesterday’s game and I think the most important thing is building on that instead of dwelling on the bad. I appreciate the positive outlook on things!
We struggled to produce, but we were more successful in stopping. Just trying to stay positive. All of our stats and our place in the table say we are not successful in a lot of things, but looking at that game we seemed to do things better. Not in every category, but in some we were struggling with. We can hopefully build on those few things we did well!
Atletico looked like they could score at any time. Played at 30% or something of their strength and still beat us easily. Could’ve gone to ET with a bit of luck but they’d still beat us during the ET. It was an uneven match all along, just that the scoreline didn’t show it.
