23/24 MD34 - Sevilla FC vs Granada

Almost a cherry on top. Nyland again with the counter set up.

Good game, some nice team play. But on plenty occasions its more than clear that Granada is not weirdly positioned where they are. Still a good game, from everybody. Soumare stood out, Ocampos with plenty of connecting passes too. Good stuff.

4 wins and 1 draw in the last 5 is promising no matter who the opponents are.
Also, Hannibal should get more touches…

Thanks for the mention, Edinho

I was glad to see Lamela in starting line-up indeed, and even more glad that, as I expected, Erik has contributed very well to the team’s performance with his constant movement and smart positioning play to help the link-up and stretch the opposition defence to provide more space and time for YEN.
Pity he did not round it off with a goal with his right foot from Navas’ (?) nice cutback pass a few minutes before he went off.

Think that was Agoume. I felt like his positioning was good as well. But his runs and some of his touches still a bit rusty in a way. Not as crisp. Same like Lukebakio last week, and now he does this lol.

Anyway. Good night gents, on to next one.

Well played overall, but there were still some poor moments in the defence. Still got the clean sheet, which i am happy for. We were a bit fortunate how bad Granada played, but that is because we put ourselves in a winning position. Well done on capitalizing on our chances.

Really liked Lamela’s inclusion. It’s just a shame he often gets injured, cause he’s definitely an x-factor in the attack. Ocampos is always at home on the right, and everything seems right in the world when seeing him combine w/ Navas.

Agoume is starting to grow on me. Like i said last week, we’re seeing more of his game with each passing matchday that he starts. I wouldn’t be mad if we activated his clause (8m) in the summer. Although i’d greatly welcome it, i don’t think Soumare will stay, cause these days 15m is too expensive for us, especially for a defensive midfielder. Also, i think he can play (and start) for any Champions League side.

A sterner test awaits us in Villarreal next week. Let’s see if we can carry on this solidity and make moves further up the table.

Vamos mi Sevilla !! :white_heart:

He’d be a great stand-in for Oliver right now, but i think he got in his own way. I love his game and how much he wants the ball, but he was doing a bit too much with the little time he got. I could understand the eagerness – he’s young, and hasn’t got much playing time – but keep it simple, and hustle back when you lose the ball ffs! :joy:

Great victory and no goals conceded. Hannibal is like Modric quality coming on late but I’m not sure he’s for 90 minutes of a tough game. AcuƱa will be nigh on impossible to replace, I think it might be his last season. Navas is 38 and I don’t think he will participate much next season. AgoumĆ© and SoumarĆ© are decent and might fit next year, Lukebakio just needs to stay fit. I think we’ll have to say goodbye to Lamela and maybe Ocampos. Joan Jordan got whistled when he came on, I don’t think he has more career here. Sergio Ramos is another end of career player.

Sevilla need a top goalkeeper plus someone like Duda who can deliver centres all day long, a free-kick specialist would be nice and a striker like Ben Yedder. Not likely, but Sevilla tend to surprise everyone when they least expect it.

I thought he was excellent today! Really liked Ramos getting forward as well.

Don’t know if anyone has mentioned this and I know it’s been a while since we were worried about it but with the win we have officially escaped relegation.

A good win and comfortable in the end. Defensively not always the best though and Nyland’s distribution at times was poor and almost landed us in trouble. We were lucky Granada are so much a poor side.

Some great attacking play though, especially in the second half and we easily could have scored a few more goals. I like Agoume and Soumare in midfield and it would be great to see us keep both but I can’t see it with Soumare sadly. Nice to see Lamela get a start and he was involved in some good link up play and helped our attack. Again not sure if he will stay though. YEN did well up front and a well taken goal. Navas was excellent again with his crossing and Ramos really got forward and fancied a goal. Question is how long can both keep going. Acuna was fantastic again but again I’m not sure if he will stay beyond this season.

Lots of things to think about and it will be a busy pre-season where we will see a few changes and definitely areas of the team where we can improve as we look to rebuild and again try and challenge for European places which let’s be honest is where we should be as a club. A big decision to make over QSF also who has undoubtedly done a good job in comfortably keeping us up and improving performances.

Now we’re officially safe from relegation and still in with a chance of top ten which would resemble something to be satisfied about after what has been another difficult season which has seen another three managers. Let’s hope next season isn’t as turbulent.

Lukebakio is an amazing talent. If he can stay fit we got a great player on our hands. Him and YEN were fantastic. A bit shaky at the back but still a clean sheet.

An amazing turnaround from where Sevilla were at Christmas. QSF has done an incredible job. Vamos Sevilla!

Looks like Lamela is out the rest of the season from a knee injury against Granada.

I doubt we will see him again. His contract is up in June.
