Sevilla vs Real Sociedad: Matchday 27

Can we consider this one of Machín’s finals? Fans were certainly calling for his head last Thursday. What say you Señor Pablo?

I’d like to see Roque Mesa play as the deepest CM like his sub appearance last Thursday. He has no business being in forward positions, while Banega won’t have to play as a DM (ridiculous how long that’s been going on.) I expect a draw based on our form but praying to God we don’t lose as we’ll be in 9th!

¡Vamos muchachos!

No Willian José for them, so that’s one less threat.

#4

Pretty dull so far. Munir down the left isn’t working. Now playing more centrally. Let’s see.

#5

Nice 1-2 b/w Wissam & Quincy, but Munir was well defended near post for the cross.

#6

Some good work from Promes taking on 2 defenders and puts in a perfect cross for Sarabia. 1-0 Sevilla.

Promes in an attacking situation and he delivers!

#8

And just like that… we concede. Played around in our own half, clearance was won by a La Real player, and Oyarzabal makes us pay. 1-1

#9

our defense is really bad. No one marking their best player on the pitch.

#10

Left wingers will never stop terrorizing Mercado. None of our CMs are disciplined enough to stop the supply to him either. Lord help us.

Remember earlier in the season when that Banega-Mesa pairing wasn’t working? Why does Machín expect it to work now? These guys are all over the place.

#12

Rulli makes a good save on WBY 1v1, but Wissam was offside.

Ref blows for HT, and it’s still tied 1-1.

#13

Promes has been our most dangerous player so far, and we should keep sending balls to him. Maybe Silva can come in so he can get on the end of those crosses?

Other than that, we look so disorganized. Such lack of positional awareness from Banega & Mesa that we’re constantly leaving gaps behind and our defense exposed. If Gonalons’ fit to play, we should bring him on ASAP.

GOOOL de Sevilla¡!¡! 3 minutes into the 2nd half. Some good pressure in their end leads to Navas putting Ben Yedder through for the goal. 2-1 Sevilla!

#15

Yep shout out to Roque for winning the ball back!

Yes, from the little bit played this half, his anticipation has improved.

We’re playing much better and keep them pressed in their half. We really should take advantage of this.

Goalmouth action at this point. Cross after cross, rebounds coming back to us… i think La Real need a timeout!

#19

Y OTRO MÁS! GOL DE BEN YEDDER!

3-1 SEVILLA

It might actually be Munir’s goal after his header bounced out from inside the goal, but Wissam headed in the rebound. Good work from Mesa again with the lobbed cross.
